Good question....do you wanna make it look like a blown out race car or more street looking ??
I have an 80 malibu full 8.50 cert. cage,12-bolt 2 plastic seats. Door panels, power windows. All glass. Steel bumpers. Glass hood and I'm 3390 race ready.
My car is fat but I have to keep my steel bumpers.

Small block or big block?

All steel body with fiberglass hood & bumpers, or what?

I've seen weights as light as 2700 lbs and as heavy as 3600 lbs.

Eric Kenward's new 80 Malibu with a SBC/Turbo combination can get down to 3030 with my 150 lb self in it. It still has a stock rear bumper and trunk too.

How much weight did you drop by removing the crash bars in the doors?

I have already removed the crash bars. Thinking about putting lexan in the doors. Does anyone know how much the door glass and window regulators weigh vs lexan?

Click the link below for a spreadsheet on my 79 Grand Prix project weight loss (800#).

Click on sheet one.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...ZP3SyTNdsrrgMg

The short version is look at EVERY piece of the car.

Can you use a nylock vs the bolt and washer?

Can a shorter bolt be used?

I got a bucket full of excess thread that is cut off bolts after the nylock is installed, weighs a couple #s.

Battery cable and to a lesser extent fuel lines are heavy. Run them in a way that they can be as short as possible. As a plus it's good for less voltage and/or pressure drop.

The first couple hundred # are easy, after that start looking for ozs.
