Default Parachute.....

When are you required to have a chute? I think I read 150+ mph in the 1/4. Is that accurate? If so, would you bother putting one on if you didn't plan on running that fast on a regular basis? How much of a pita are they to pack/keep up?

The new set-up will get me close to 9.0x's, maybe even 8.9x's in the 1/4 trapping right around 150. But I won't be running that quick all the time. For the most part I will be slowing it down to run a 6.0 index class. I'm just wondering if I should make plans for a chute or not.

When you run consistantly 150mph and over, then you would need a chute.

That's what I was thinking. I don't wanna be scaring people off with a chute that probably doesn't really need to be there anyway.

What about protective jackets/pants? When will I need to think about that stuff? Sorry for the newb questions.

They are always nice to have when you need one. I use mine in the 1/8 at 137. Sure saves on the brakes and keeps you in practice. 3 mins to pack that is a stroud.
