So I got bored and decided to get my 1969 Camaro running again. I've had the car since I was 18 and it still has the first motor I built with my dad. Anyhow, its been 10.80's @ 3450lbs all day long with a true 350 SBC naturally aspirated. Unfortunately, we don't have the time to build motors anymore so I asked Kurt Urban to build another motor for me and going to redo the suspension with parts from Alston Chassisworks. I'm building the car so I can drive it on the street and run a Limited 10.5 class. This car will be running well before my Trans Am is done so the race season won't be entirely lost.

Details below and pictures of the car with the old setup and prior to painting it GM Electron Blue:

Engine:
410" GMPP LSX Iron Block w/ Procharger F1C
Callies Magnum Crankshaft
Howards 6.125 Rods
Diamond Pistons
All Pro 244cc Cathedral Heads
Hydraulic Roller Cam
Jesel 1.7 Mohawk Rockers
GMPP Single Plan Manifold with Elbow and 90MM TB

Trans and Converter:
ATI TH400 rebuilt by Steve Casner
10" 4200 Converter

Chassis and Suspension:
Alston Front Clip, A Arms, Double Adjustable Varishocks
Alston FAB 9", Strange 35 Spline Axles, Calvert Split Mono Leafs, Double Adjustable Varishocks
Cage cert'd to 8.50's... don't think we'll go faster than that...

Also going to run a FAST XFI standalone for LS1 and coil on plug set up.

hey eric, I would check the rules for limited 10.5, you can only run a 80mm tb max and have to run the stock pcm setup as far as I remember. That is the only 2 questions that were brought up in my mind when I read that.

Seems like an awesome build. Can't wait to see this one either.

Thanks! That picture was taken at my office about 6 years ago. We were testing out the transbrake on our concrete launch pad. If we hook there (which we did)... we can hook almost anywhere.

2000 Trans Am

HKE 429ci LS3; 11.6 comp
custom HKE cam (not sure on specs, but is pretty big for hyd roller... close to .700 lift, dur. unknown)
Dart heads (full overhaul by Ricky at NRC, 2.100 intakes, 1.6 exhaust, hollow stem stuff)
1.8 Yella Terras light weight rockers
Edelbrock Super Vic (minor port work)
FAST 4150 tb
42lb injectors (G-Force)
2" Kooks with 3" exhaust and dumps (exhaust will be my own design and build)
MSD coils/wires and relocation kit

T-400 fmrvb with t-brake
PTC 8" 5k converter

Moser 12-bolt, narrowed 6"
33 spl axles/Eaton posi (for now)/TA cover

BMR adj torque arm, mounted on trans crossmember
CM Adj lower control arms (custom made by Westside Hotrods)
CM tubular frame connectors
BMR k-member, upper and lower CA's
manual rack, manual brakes (strange m/c)
Strange front/rear drag brakes (Blitzkrieg-Dennis)
Front and rear QA1's
BS Street Lites 3.5" fronts and 10" rears
325/50 Drag radials
Battery re-located to rear (my own design and build)
Dual 255 pumps in tank with -8 feed and stock return

And tuning will be done by G-Force in Pearland.

The car still has all the air conditioning stuff, as the wife's only demand was to keep that. Right now I am waiting on the heads, but they should be done sometime this week and the shortblock is already built. Should be able to have the car rolling by Mar 1st. I'll snap a few photos tonight.
Alright had to update the build, as it changed a little due to shortage of funds. Motor is almost done, should be dropping everything in within the next couple of weeks. Will update on the dyno numbers when finished, but here is a few pics of the roller. First time out of the garage since I got started the project.

the rear with 325's and my "sunshine" helper

Those v-banded manifolds I assume are a custom job? Are they 3" V-bands? How do they come stock, ball and socket?

got my Advanced Clutches flywheel today. This is #1 on his LS flywheels. He had never made one for an LS engine before.. This is part of his fully adjustable 10" clutch.

Billet aluminum, rebuildable and weighs less than 12lbs. I opted on the alum to kill the intertia and since I have an n/a deal and steep gears, I think it will work out well..

not much new on the car front around here.... too busy with customers stuff.

Made a little progress and started fitting the turbo kit..... I am not fancy fabricator but I think it looks ok for DIY crap.

Got the V band welded on the passenger side, You can see how much different the manifolds are based on where the passenger turbo kit is in relation to the hot side piping.

Did a little on the drivers side of the kit last night :

Got the v band all fitted and the flex welded in also changed the bends on the kit to try and match the other side a little better even being that the manifolds exit in different areas, Still gotta clean up and weld the bottom half as well as build a piece to bridge the gap.

Soon it will be time to clean it all up and coat/wrap it.
