Default need advise on converter

Hi all, new here, I have a question about an issue ive been having this year. I'm thinking I have a converter that is too tight but I really don't know much about converters. So heres what I'm dealing with, 04 mustang 3200 lbs sbf powerglide tranny drag radials. Car runs 8.90's with small nos shot. Current converter is a tci 9" 6000stall nitrous converter. Engine has trouble stalling the converter to 5000 on the brake. So I have the 2step at 4500. Car leaves the line real nice and hard. will 60 ft in the mid 1.2's. Then through 1st gear engine seems to have a hard time to accelerate until it reaches about 7000 then pulls hard. Shift at 8000 rpm drops to about 6200 then again seems to just nose over till rpm reaches 7000 again then hauls. Just doesn't want to haul the mail. not sure if its the converter or not, but I am thinking it is. Any advise??

sounds like the stator is making the converter lock up too fast.

Is it a custom converter or is it a shelf unit? Could you give me the part number along with your combo?

I have used PTC converters for some time, BTE, TCI, ATI all have been in my car, all worked fair, PTC worked best, Kenny owns place, lane and tim are the spec guys. I agree converter is too tight for your app.....

Are you wanting the converter to work with the nitrous or just on engine alone? If it's engine alone, it's the wrong converter.

Alot of problems comming up on the converter are due to a carb that is not setup correctly.

I am not a carb guy but have been around guys that found quite a bit in the carb.

thanks for the input. Tony, this engine is run primarily on nos. Had the car on the chassis dyno today, with the nitrous on we started the pulls from 5000 rpm when I mashed the throttle the engine would dart to 68 - 6900 and would spike up and down in rpm throughout the pull till i shut it down at 7500. seems weird to me.
Ive going to borrow a convereter from a friend this weekend see if the problem stays or not.
