Default Max Compression for Blower

I'm running about 10.3:1 static. I'm thinking of throwing about 7-8 pounds at it with a ProCharger.

What do you think? Too much compression to throw forced air at it?

Nope, have at it. make sure you have a good tuner to make it safe. lots of guys running that type of compression these days. the tuning is alot better than it was back with the 8.5:1 was as high as guys would go. Let me know if you need help with getting a procharger as well.

I have a great tuner who is really experienced in putting blowers on these cars. Greg Carroll (carroll supercharging and Blowerworks). He has come out of semi-retirement to work on my car. He's done 100s of these. He still works on "special projects" he finds interesting.

Thanks, I was worried about the mechanical aspects...thanks for the response.

what about running 12 .5 with race gas and an f1r on my 496 bbc.. i can get it down to 11.5 with gaskets if needed as well. i know this is not the ultimate setup . but can it work. im sure that 8 to 1 with pump gas and boost will get me the power i want but the car is running now. but with big compression and a N/A cam grind. i dont mind running race gas. so is it still worth it to drop compression. the car is all steel street car but less than 500 miles a year.

The common thing here is good fuel, and lots are using alky which we all know is a cool fuel. literally. lol

I was not aware people are running that much compression and boost, are these mostly drag cars? Are they living on the street? Suppose e85 is the minimum on fuel, pump gas would not cut....or I am thinking it wouldn't.

Thats alot of compression especially if you hammer on it after a decent drive when everything is good and hot. Id drop it to the 11.5. Im fairly certain it would work at 12.5 but the 11.5 just opens your tuning window up for a small mistake and im certain it better be really small. LOL. I'm running 9.7:1 with my sbf and F3 thats set up for 35psi give or take a few. But thats a drag only engine. If you have a good meth injection setup then you will be fine especially on race fuel. I would say if you dont mind the cost run c16 even on the street. It gets the looks when ya roll to the ice cream stand on a friday nite and everyone smells it.

thanks for the feedback.

im thinking about changing head gaskets to drop compression and a cam change . droping from a 4.10 gear to a 3.25 or so and about 8 lbs boost . the car is a 11. 00 car now with all stock water pump fan and air cleaner. and full exaust and i want a full sec more. with a more drivable gear and cam . and boost . thanks.

Just remember 8lbs to start leads to 12 then 15 then 20 and by the time you realize it your at 35-40psi!!!.
Boost is a drug its awfully easy to get addicted!.
Best of luck to ya. should make for a real nice ride on the street.

The 14.5 and 50 psi is in my friends Top ALky Dragster. I have also seen this kind of comp and boost in Mark THomas's Top Alky Funny car on E98.
