Default Who makes the best performing slick?

I've always wandered who makes the best performing slick? Almost everyone runs M/T but why not Hoosier, Goodyear, or any other brands? Post Pros/Cons of each brand you've tested and why.

I ran M/T tires and wanted to try something else if it'd be worth the change. No cons always hooked with no issues.

Depends on the size.

Best all around, multiple uses is M/T.

Best "big" tire is Goodyear, they just don't last long.

Goodyears are prolly the baddest big tire around, but they wear quickly...
Hoosiers are great for Blown pro-mods they last a little longer...Stiff sidewalls..
MT's make the baddest D/R obviously...There slicks i feel are a little too flimsy on big tire cars..I think they are better on N/A cars or N20 applications..
But they do make good 10" stiff sidewall tires for the TT5 guys and l/s guys...

These of course are purely just opinions

This is what I was wandering. Not sure what class I may be aiming for but thinking modified(ultimate) street. M/T 28x10.5 is $360.00 and Goodyear 28x10.0 is $430.00. So would it be worth the extra $70.00 for the Goodyears or maybe even a Hoosier for $350-360? I guess the only way to truly know is testing, but hoping someone had already done the dirty work for me.

Mickey Thompson makes the best 28x10.5 and 10.5w by far. All you other brand supporters need to re-think. We have been R an D testing M/T big tires and just put down 3 big stages of NOS before the first gear shift in less than 1 second. Lets see another tire hold that................

I know I will get flamed for this, but i'm on my third set of toyo's
14.5 x 32 x 15, and love them.Hook every pass, last longer than any I have ever used.Stiff sidewall takes a while to get used too,but once you figure out the right psi they work great for me.
M/T would be my second choice, goodyears don't last for sheit,
2450 lb car, 4 link,with 509.

Which size tire? 34.5? Big stages is relative....how big is big? If you're running a powerglide with the right converter, I don't see that being a big problem to get everything on in around 1.0-1.2. A clutch is another issue, which is why I'm asking.

GoodYear for S/C-S/G/-S/SST-Just an opinion There are alot of variables on which tire to run as far as what type of "Class" Racing your gonna do-How you do your Burnout's etc.

not where I race nor for what I do, Hoosier is the tire of choice!

Who makes the best performning slick has everything to do with vehicle purpose, power, venue and demographics.

Go to an NHRA national event and look at Stock and Super Stock cars and you'll find the majority are running Hoosier and M/T.

Been using Goodyear for ever, switched to M/T and just can't get a handle on them for some reason.
They are 34X17, going back to Goodyears at the next race. I also have Hoosiers to try out as well.
