Nah, not that many, maybe 16 tops. Trust me, RAM rules are more fucked up then NMCA.

Just curious John, do you enjoy driving over 1000 miles and only have 5 cars in your class???

IF you do, great........but only 5-7 of you like that idea, and 1/2 of those are from the same family...........to me, that is screwed up, but whatever

The Edelbrock Victor Ford head is still the same as it was in 2005 and before for that matter........

I don't have a dog in this fight BUT I called your very engine builder the end of last year to ask if he could build a big block mopar to be competitive and the reply was I COULD NOT GET THERE WITH THE CURRENT RULES don't believe me call Tony.

Thanks Dave......so if BES says it, it must be true.......now, since Tony said it, will NMCA allow the M/C head??????????

LOL yes, it is screwed up.

It's the nature of how things developed though.

The root of the problem is this.

10 years ago, this was street car racing. People wanted a certain look, a certain format, and at the time, people did not spend this kind of money to go racing... just look at the tow vehicles for an example, back then, to today.

Now, this is 10 years later. We have all evolved from those street car roots. We are spending 100+k on a car that fits within old school street car rules.... stock floors, no back half, etc....

The rules are for 9+ second cars. Now, the cars today are heading towards sub 8 second capability depending on weight and other variables.

Today the cars are evolving into full on comp style chassis with 10.5 tires. Which is way cool.

But.... with all the restrictions, there are obviously only as you say, 3 or 4 people interested in THE ENTIRE NATION..... and one family..... out of tens, of thousands out there who enjoy this kind of thing.

There are people to fill the class, if the rules were more like PSCA etc.... wealthy people out there like many of the Comp Racers, Demayo, Baskins, etc....

Far more of them than folks like me and others.

Not to take away from NMCA's effort to keep the class at it's roots, and work hard to keep the class affordable(within desireable reason of a rule makers job)....

Unfortunately, the majority of N/A max effort racers around the nation want something different than what Pro Stock offers....

.... going by the numbers.

........or Milan.....or RAM..............Those two classes will be packed this year!!!!!!!!

Chris, just curious, in your honest opinion, could YOU get a BBM to go 40's or even 50's at the weight........I dont know how much experience you have with BBM, like you do with the W8 mopars, which, by the way, probably could be a superior head in P/S.....but I am not building two engines..

IMHO At 3425 pounds, a 525 BBM could go 8.50's..... maximum effort, and would have whatever valve size I wanted in the heads.................................

Don't limit yourself.

Last year the Tiger head had to carry 75lbs over the base. I could deduct 100, not 175.

Payout is 1000 bucks compared to the 6500 or so you can walk away with at the NMCA.

It wouldn't matter. There would be 5-7 people willing to do what ever it took to have the absolute best stuff there is out there and they would run .3-.4 faster then everyone else. The other 12 or so guys would get tired of getting their asses handed to them and would give up. That is why we are where we are now. If 1 person showed up with a $25k non-qualifying NHRA pro-stock piece, it would run teens or twentys. Then everyone would quit just like they do in other heads up series.

If you want to hear a grown man laugh. With the current rules, ask Tony if he could build a competative Pontiac.
