The first time i ran at a nmca event at Joliet i had no clue about the courtesy staging rule.In eliminations the starter motioned us in,i had a 6 speed w/no 2 step so i would go in lite both and bring my car up to launch rpm waiting for my opponent to stage, being it was a pro tree. The starter started throwing a fit and backed me out,so not knowing i did it again.I thought the guy was gonna lose a nut or something he ran over and started bitchin me out.Oh well live and learn,i now have a routine of letting the car next to me lite 1 before i go in.But knowing what it does to some people i will do it out of spite on grudge nite just to get keep them on there toes!I dont mind with my auto car if it gets done to me,i bump in, hit the button and let her rip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I back up from my burn out and stop just before the pre-staged bulb. I do my normal checks, look over to see what the other driver is doing and pre-stage the car. I will not pre-stage unless I am ready to full stage within the allotted time (depending on the track).

I've had it happen before. I will give them a few seconds in case of an accident to back up, but then it's all my time to get in the beams how I want to. You double bulb to screw with me, hope you're not in a rush b/c I'm taking my time

Cool Re: Getting double-bulbed

So what do ya do when you stage and see the other stage light come on. Then bump into the second bulb to notice that his top bulb just went out. All because his crewman was looking for the bulb with his foot. I don't get all that crewman waving and playing footsie crap with the beam deal.

There is a video floating around of this race.
yeah our group of guys went to the dsm shootout and idk how many people have seen the video but i believe every race but maybe one the owner of the car got double bulbed before he was staged... but the final race was a rwd conquest that had been going like 8.70s all day he double bulbed then our guy single bulbed and bounced into the double the other guy tried to get on his trans brake and the car died.. the track offical made him sit up on stall for around 10-12 secs before he had to start due to use yelling at him.. then we got flicked off and cussed out because we wouldnt let him get his car started

Agree.

Courtesy staging ...... most tracks (at least the ones I race at here in the mid-west) have courtesy staging. At our local track, the manager at that time thru out the courtesy staging rule. Most still complied but there were a few who were looking for an edge.....

Whenever there is a crew member involved in bringing the opponet's car into the beams, always be the last to stage and you will never be messed up.

I appreciate Bradenton enforcing the courtesy stage rule and immediately backing up anybody who double bulbs. Also, NHRA does not allow any backing into staging beams. Bradenton allows an automatic 10 seconds after three lights are lit. This is a very controlled and good way to race and everybody knows what to expect. Starter is usually very aware of any crew member doing any beam dance and I have seen people kicked out for that stuff.

Your right Billy does a great job at Bradenton.

A few years ago I was at a race in NC, and had it happen to me one night, so the next night I returned the favor to the same driver. I just took it as one of those things that happen, but man was he pissed. I guess because I won both rounds.
