Default hoosier vs. mt

driving

i know this is going to sound crazy but we have a new deal around here at the track u cant bring a trailered car in on tuesday...so if i had to drive to the track 40 miles which would be the better tire for driving and racing 275x60x15 drag radial...i hear the hoosier would not make it on a drive for any length of time...who has done it..i had 275 mt on other car and drove alot...

Trailer it a few blocks away from the track, then drive it there.

I would not considering driving to the track on Hoosiers.

Last year I drove mine to the track a lot on the MT drag radials. Even on the way home with lower air pressure they were fine. I didn't ever get caught in the rain though!

Both work.
M/T will last longer and is better if you get caught in the rain.
Hoosier works better on marginal track.

I can't speak on the Hoosiers since I have never run them, but the MT's are my everyday street tires. I know they will handle the trips without an issue. I think the Hoosiers will make it too just won't last as long.

Throw your drag radials in the trunk. Drive on a set of BFG Comp TA's.

What Hoosier tire are you talking about? If it's the Quick Time Pro, it's not even a question, don't do it. The MT Drag Radials are just fine, but why put extra wear and tear on them, just change them at the track.

You're lucky! I have them for the occasional trip to Atco for their 10.0 Index racing. They are a slick with two grooves in them. I have gotten punctures in mine just in the pits. No way would I drive them on the street. I've been 1.26 in the 60ft with them so I have no complaints with them working, but on the street as thin as they are, just swap the tires at the track.

I agree. It has been my experience that the Hoosiers are the better track tire, while only being slightly behind the M/T's on the street. I have driven 50 miles one way many times on Hoosiers and never had an issue, but as stated before, I have never gotten caught in the rain...
