The local strip (Mokan Dragway) asks for our old worn out slicks which they cut up and use them on a drag along hydraulic fixture. I don't know if they bought it or fabbed their own, they are a resourceful bunch.
Ha! Yeah Larry's had his hand in a ton of track prep machines. He's a pretty bright guy and I'm just glad I've had the chance to race on his prepped track every weekend.
6 years ago, I took a 6' box blade, removed the cutting edges, welded a 12" Channel to the bottom, that hung below the sides 12". Then welded 5 brackets that had a 3" hole in one end(Closest to tractor). I threaded the slicks on a 3" pipe, and put that thru the holes so 4 slicks would drag from the pipe. The 12" Channel rode on top of the slicks to provide a firm downforce. Then I put brackets behind the unit to hold the slicks neatly. We then load the box blade with cement blocks for extra downforce. (It makes it quieter if you take rubber and line the area where the blocks lay.) It takes a tractor about 50 horse to pull it.
The guys you need to talk to are the Crispe family. They are the kings of sticky, and clean up. Their stuff is the best. Call bandimere speedway and ask to talk to Larry, Cody, or Cale. 303 -697- 6001 or 303 - 697- 4870
