None at all. I have used C-16, Sunoco Maximal, C-12, and Sunoco Supreme in mine, no difference in ET/MPH at all. The lower octane fuels did need to be a little richer to keep the EGT's the same. This is in a 414 SBC, 14.8:1. I used to switch fuels when I played with the juice from time to time. Now all I run is Maximal (cheaper than C-16 unless I buy an entire drum of VP).
Hi Jason,
Thanks for your reply..the motor is a 565 with Dart Big Chief heads. I'm new to this so I went for the highest octane. Whats your thoughts on C-14?

I paid $11.50 a gallon for the C-16 at the pump at ORP. I wanna make sure this thing makes it down the track before buying a whole drum. Do you really think the Q-16 makes a difference?
i quote this from the thread below... Another Q-16 Success Story
Well, went and tested with Q-16 yesterday. Made my first run with C-16 and my normal tune, changed nothing but fuel and added 7% of fuel across the board. Car 60 footed better than ever (1.36) and ran 2 tenths quicker than ever (9.27). MPH was actually down .4 mph, but the Afr was about .4 leaner than usual. So I added another 1% fuel but it phuckin rained before I could get another pass. What I immediately noticed first is the crisp idle and throttle response . It really cleaned up the bottom end on my little 284CI engine. I like it, just about need a facemask when pouring it into the tank tough
and we have made some very noice numbers on a TT car in our camp. Lots of threads on here where its worth it.
What are you guys paying a gallon for Q-16? Is this any different from VP-DRT?
Turbinetom, I run a combination very similar to yours and I've been running C-14 (or equivalent) with no problems. Thinking about stepping up though after reading this!!!
Fellas,
Thanks for the encouragement. As I have it now, the motor has a box stock 1150 dominator and is jetted square with #93 jets (.112 hole). If I use the Q-16, what do you recommend about jetting?
I don't have any AFR monitor..just doing it old school to get started.
your gonna be around 98 square for jets,,,,110 octane will work fine, just keep timing concervative,38 degrees and keep the fuel curve richer,,this is a good place for power valves,,,pv s that open about max load you can waste your loot on all the extra octane,,,ya only need whats needed, extra makes no more power,,,and a cooler plug also, but one that will burn off clean
have fun ............
