The 386 castings are the small intake port version, the 454427 castings are the one's that we used in P/S. The exhaust ports are the same in both heads, the smaller heads are the same externaly as the 427's so the could be used with extra porting (more $$) are you looking for 4.840 or 4.900 bore center? The Brodix "Big Duke" casting is a copy of the Pontiac so you might want to check those out and I could possibly find you an actual set that we ran when I was working at the Rod Shop, they would be ported to that era's configuration and would be 4.840 b.c.
The 427 intake ports are very close together ...needs a different intake.. I have 2 new 386 castings with seats and guides ....you can have them for $1500.00...jimmy 919-781-5700 9-5
You always have to mess with stand heights to get the geometry correct due to different valve-pushrod lengths ect. Remember, in racing there's no such thing as a bolt on part.
i have a pair that was done by epd that have a rounded top port on the intake, complete with rockers, like new only a few dyno pulls.
Let me know if you are interested.
