Yes. During a Bass tournament . It was very foggy and there were like 40 boats around. After everyone heard my drag about 20 boats were in casting distance lol
Big tournament this Saturday. 100-200 boats
I never got a fish bone stuck in my throat eating pussy!
Seriously though, I will eat it on occasion, but I don't go out of my way to. The couple of whiting fillets in a fishermans basket is as close as I usually get. I like most everything else seafood wise, lobster, calamari, octopus, prawns, yabbies, moreton bay bugs, crayfish, scallops, crab etc. I just don't really dig fish.
Our best 4 fish netted us 4th place out of 18 boats!
Our biggest was a 15 pound King, the biggest King of the tournament was only 18 1/2 pounds. Surprisingly small for pre-spawn August fish. Normally this time of year we would see a lot of fish deep into the 20 pound range.
Our 15 pounder had seven Alewife packed in it's gut and was still hungry!
Steelhead are venturing into every tributary near me. I landed 4 today and lost 2. This one is the biggest one I've ever caught. Probably 31-32" and about 11-12lbs. Nobody around to help take a pic so this was the best I could do.

I've been crushing steelhead lately! They've been slowly moving into the streams near me, and it's been game on!
A few weeks ago I went to a local outdoor show and entered a raffle that had a lot of prizes. I got a call the next day saying that I won a rod/reel combo. It is a 5' Ultralight made of carbon fiber with a wavecast spinning reel. The reel is meh, but the rod is insanely good. Very strong! I told the owner of the company that I was going to take it out steelhead fishing and he advised me not to. It's not built for big fish but I felt it had the power to handle them. I ended up hooking a REAL BIG fish that we got on film. It ended up bending the treble hook right out of its mouth:
Later that same day we hit a different spot where we didn't need waders and I ended up landing a nice 9lb hen:

The owner is a disable vet, with a huge passion for fishing. He designs all of the blanks out of a special carbon fiber resin. From looking at the catalog, the regular rods are between $200-$600. Ice fishing rods are around $50-$60. I was using the Ultralight that I won, way out of its intended range of fish. They make a killer line of steelhead/salmon rods. That will be my next purchase!
