I know its a mute point, but if I'm not mistaken, the Nostalgia Funny Cars from IHRA and NHRA Heritage have no nitro max, a 40gal single pump, and a single points mag. I believe the records are in the mid 5.60s @ 258ish mph. Although closer to Pro Boost numbers, I bet you could perk one up with a 44 AMP Pro Mag, Grid, relax the 500c.i. rule and maybe throw them some overdrive...

Nostalgia FC's are limited to a 21 gallon pump

These nostalgia style funny cars run 5.44sec with a 34gal pump with a 6/71 supercharger.

Since all PDRA events are at NHRA sanctioned tracks, I think PDRA will settle on the fact that being sanctioned is more important to them than nitro. With several tracks leaving IHRA and IHRA's unwillingness at this time to host a professional series of any kind, you can see the writing on the wall here.
Considering they have booked an a/fuel dragster (nitro, no blower) to run against Scruggs at their next event, it brings into question and makes me a,little skeptical about the homeland security reason/excuse...

Yea that makes zero sense at all being nitro HD run all over the country plus all the other examples you stated.

That's an exhibition run. They likely already had permission for that. Exhibition cars are restricted from regular "competition" at the event and also have performance limits so it is separate.

So if it's "exhibition", homeland security no longer cares about Nitro being at the facility? Not likely. The more valid exlanation is the sanctioning bodies handling aso/mso won't allow it. No shame in saying so, but why blame homeland security and then have a nitro burning vehicle at the next event? Seems inconsistent with the public excuse they tried to use for not allowing nitro powered cars at their events...

Probably because NHRA felt it would soften the blow and help the PDRA brass save a little face. Homeland does care about any nitro use so itís a valid point. But no, I don't think its the main one behind their decision either. Just my two cents.

I don't think the NHRA wants the exposure of a less than experienced team running that much Nitro !!!!! Even when they allowed the injected nitro pro mod's there was a very tight limit on who could do.An injected car is potentially very dangerous in the wrong hands.
