Expienced eye, please check this bearing for me.

As the title states, need a second opinion.

Checking my dads used (*I know) 347 SBF rotating assembly he bought. Pulled the mains and rod caps, etc.

It has had light use, but looks to me like some oil contamination. One main in particular I don't like the look of, something got picked up and gouged the surface.

Hoping I don't have to tell him it needs a rebuild.



The stank part is the clear cut right under the locator.

Here's the rods, they aren't too bad.

The scratches indicate debris, possibly grit from machining operations. The crater near the tang might have been caused by debris collecting in that area (indention).

Probably not very related to your issue, but you can see the bearings arent pressed flushed into the saddle areas. If you look close, you can notice it. Id probably make sure of that on reassembly.

It would be a complete waste of money to put new bearings in that engine.
it looks like a little dirt got in there but i have not seen many bearings that are
perfect. I worked heavy line for 20 years and have torn down and built many engines. put that thing back together and run it.
