I would like to take it to get tuned. I asked if there was anyone in the central IL area, or even close, and got no responces. After I have it tuned, how would I adj timing, and things for different track conditions?
I dont mind having someone else tune it, I just want to be able to adj things without having to take it back all the time. As ive stated before, im new to the turbo and injection stuff, so just looking for options, thanks.

My question is, what kind of plug gap should I be running? Also, the car wants to idle super high. How do I get it to come down? The screw that controls the throttle blade is all the way out, and Im not sure what to do.
My combo is on the first page of this thread if you didnt read all posts, thanks.
Are any of the plugs porcelain cracked?

Plug wire on completely?

Plug wires in new/good shape?

If the strap was burnt off then the heat range might of been too hot, it could of been other tuning miscalculations, but until you take this thing to a tuner that really really knows what they are doing you will never be able to find out what the car is doing.

My suggestions get with Ed Hutchins on here or several other big tuners and ask their advice and ask them who is the closest tuner to you they trust and can vouch for to get this thing logged and figure out what was used to tune it and what is going on.

Honestly with the popping and strap being burnt off and the way it's idling I would for sure take it to a tuner being your first rodeo here.

I can and others can sit here all night guessing as to what it is, but until we/i/others see what the tune looks like, what the parameters look like and then the plugs after that, there is no way to ever know.

LS1edit is OLD OLD software.

I know Ed can tune LS1edit, but your best bet is to let Ed or someone else re-do your tune completely with HP tuners.

OR go aftermarket like PSJ said on the 1st page.

Once you get it there, ask that tuner if you can purchase a VCM tuning suite from them and ask them to show you how to make the small adustments yourself if and when it's needed. I'd like to think if you spent that much money with the they'd have no problem guiding you through it.

Fuck that Holley EFI. I'd rather use a stock ECU with a driver box ANY day of the week.

Do yourself a Favor, call Jim at Speed Inc and make the drive up there. There is NO other tuner I would trust with my cars. Everything I build for myself and customers get tuned by him.

Jay, doesn't Jim do something like I mentioned where you buy the vcm suite from them and they tell you, help you and guide you along the way to making the changes needed to upgrade your power and modifications correct?

Honestly, I'm not sure on that one. I know he uses HP tuners, but I'm not sure if he will try and point you in the direction of tuning your own car. Once you get the hang of HP Tuners, its pretty simple to make changes to it as you make changes to the car. However, I would still have it tuned on the dyno. I'm quite familiar with the stock ECU and bs3 and I still have him do the baseline tunes on the dyno for me. If he wasn't so far away I'd drag him to the track to help tune there too, lol.

Understandable for sure.

I had heard of certain shops doing this. Maybe Frost?

Just to give you an idea, I went 8.20's with a stock ecu on E85 tuned by Jim. Glad I could help!

Yep, this is something I offer, and I would think Speed Inc does too, but don't want to speak for them.

As far as a plug strap being blown off, yeah, that ain't good. Get it to a tuner ASAP.

Check with your tuner and see if they have a check list for you.

Take care of the common sense stuff. Make sure it's full of fuel, oil is topped off. On boosted cars, one of the most important things is make sure all the tubing is secure so nothing blows off.

No leaks, oil, coolant or fuel. Good tires, torque the lug nuts. Approach this as if you're going to race the car.

The car has a magnaflo 600 efi pump and return regulator. When the pump is on with the motor off you can really hear the fuel return in the reg. and line. Is that pretty normal?
