Default Axle moving in and out

I have 9" ends on my 8.8 and noticed today the drivers side has a heavy 1/8" in out play. Pulled the axel and the bearing looks good. What gives?

Is the bearing sitting flush with the outside of the housing end? OR can you push it in beyond? Did you have a look and see where the clearance is occuring?

Did the bearing move on the axle shaft?

Going to check it out a little closer TomorrOw. Looked like the loc ring was still shouldered. Maybe the retaining plate?

.........Disc setup , and you checked with the calipers off?...

...... Had a disc brake setup using ford stuff with the cast retainer \ caliper mount and yes it was wornout causing slop... minimal mind you but it was worn nonetheless.....

the bearing is not being contained on the shaft with the ring pushing up against the side of the inner race of bearing
or
the housing end is not squeezing the width of bearing into the backing plate / hold fork that mounts in the plate that the caliper is on...

yes, the caliper was off, and the T-bolts were still in the backing plate. I had the Strange Pro Race brakes on. Acted like the Caliper bracket(which is the ratainer plate) was not putting pushing on the bearing and seal enuf. Going to check it out a little more when the new Baer dual caliper brakes show up. I check the axle out real good, and it did not look like the retainer ring has moved any.

A - Loose Bearing/Bad Bearing
B - Bracket not seated against bearing thus allowing the axle to slide in and out from the housing end.

I believe Strange, I would have to call Dave and ask him. I think that's all he sells.
