Gerry,i was thinking the same thing are you using the same fuel cell for the pump gas and race gas? Also what did the spark plug look like out of that cylinder?

Later Mark.

I was thinking about damaged ringlands, like some old 496 with a small, safe tune had on it.

What cranking pressure did you have in the motor gerry..??

If it was high to begin with adding the small shot you did of nitrous would increase that pressure and make that gasket go..We all know the ford head bolt pattern isn't the best for torquing a head down..I would also look into a MLS gasket possibly.. A good race Fel-Pro gasket will work but i would add acouple coats of Copper spray to both sides when installing..

either way good luck on getting it back together..

Hey Gerry, after all the grief that you get on here, it seems as if the Renegades really do pull together when the going gets tough!

I figured you were, But not the same scenario...Turns out that the smashed ringland came from a piston that was too tight in the Bore!! Even has the Odd wear marks to prove it..actually had started to fold the material over itself, Good thing he's being meticulous with his build & disassembled everything, I saw the piston in question yesterday, one side was virtually untouched & the other side was heavy aluminum to metal contact, So some of that fog was probably from a hole that the rings were no longer seating properly!! All the others looked Fine.....Something expanded or distorted that one (heat)..maybe from the prior blown head gasket that it suffered late in October when it was last run when it was really cool out & it was a little Lean if you remember correctly, which was the reason for them fattening it up & taking some timing away the next time out!! basically it had probably already developed that problem right then...
