I find it amusing that the "greatest athlete on the planet" couldn't defend himself against his wife swinging one of his own clubs

Unfortunately in our society athletes are now considered public figures just like politicians. They make the decision to follow the path of the professional athlete knowing their life will and the mistakes made in it will be scrutinized. On the one hand, everyone should have some privacy, but on the other here is a guy that makes millions of others peoples dollars for being a spokesperson.

Personally I don't understand why it's surprising to anyone.

Just goes to prove the old saying is true, "Show me a man with a beautiful wife and I'll show you a man who is tired of f***ing her"

First of all, ive never heard of him referred as the greatest athlete on the planet. Hes the most RECOGNIZABLE athlete on the planet.
Could you imagine what the fall out would have been if hed have laid one finger on her? Even if it was in self defense hed be murdered by the public.

I have heard him referred to that by many commentators, and most recently by Vesper Parnavik (sp) when discussing his setting tiger and his wife up. I don't agree with it, but have heard it many times.

I haven't followed that close but didn't he hit a fire hydrant? Destruction/damage to public property? Not really sure what the requirements are to be honest.

If it was just a simple traffic deal I'm sure it that's all that would be required. From what little I heard it sounded like the investigation was more than that.

I'm curious. I remember reading in the paper several years ago about an incident where a lady called the police on her husband. She was worried that he was going to hurt himself because he was out in the back pasture tearing it up in his truck while drunk. Cops came out, he stopped and they arrested him for DUI. Took it to court and the charges stuck. Can't remember all the particulars, seems like it was in Pa or Oh. So, if you can be arrested (in some states at least) for DUI on your own property, why not reckless driving?
