According to the NT Times, as of 2006 26% of the members of Congress had military service. Of those, nearly 2/3 are Republican. In comparison 29% of ALL men over the age of 18 have military experience. |

You are right, there was a huge difference. One attempted to physically harm our president. The other merely spoke the truth.

I began to be aware of my immediate business climate around 1986 and have owned my business since 1991.....my experience is that pain comes in 7-10 year cycles, having gone through and SURVIVING two economic downturns. Being in the auto repair/service business, the "economy" and my well being tend to walk a VERY thin line due to the customer base I chose to cater to....it is VERY close to an inversely proportional relationship between the sate of economy and my business health......when times are REALLY good for folks (my customer base anyway), they'd just as soon go buy a new car than dump a couple grand in it for a major repair....when they are just a weeee bit more watchful of their finances, but not feeling real CONCERN, they will spend 4 grand on a vehicle to keep from having to go out and spend 20 grand plus....most often even more for something new. When customers enter the mildly concerned stage, they will spend 5 grand on a vehicle only worth 6 grand JUST to keep from having to go spend money, and/or start a note for a new vehicle. HOWEVER then when things get past the wee bit of concern stage, and folks are running scared like their income will cease tomorrow and the money they have in the bank has to last them till death, it is neigh impossible to find someone willing to spend more than 2-4 hundred bucks, for ANY repair or maintenance.....routine maintenance is out the window, and a drive it till it drops attitude takes over....windows are rolled down in the place of AC repairs, if the "spare" car breaks, it is parked etc.....so it's tough to equate my PERSONAL well being with that of the economy and the president.....too fine a line and too many inverse formulas there....Times are TOO good, folks buy new.....Times are TOO bad folks don't spend money unless it's a last resort OR buy new.......HOWEVER, I would have to be deaf, dumb and blind to not see that during the Reagan mid first and complete second term and all during the Bush terms, my customers, the COMMON MAN, were doing MUCH better than during Clinton and MOST CERTAINLY exponentially better than today.......

My business has flourished under George Bush. We added a significant amount of employees. Busniess is still is good. If taxes go up significantly or nat healthcare passes, I will reduce the size, income and number of employees.

I was pretty let down by Bush. Clinton and the algore opened up the flood gates to globalism in manufactoring. Problem was that our economy was so good that it took a long time for the long term effects of a society built by jobs to feel the effects. Bush turned out to be a globalist and was pretty much numb to the needs of Americans. He was more interested in his own agenda.
But contrary to the opinion of Saturday Night Live, the parrots on Comedy Central, and most of the main stream media (and the sheep that joined the heard), he wasn't a bad President. But his worse points was that he was numb to the needs of America and more interested in their own agenda. That is EXACTLY what I feared would be the problem with Obama and it is. I always thought that if people didn't want more of the same then they should NOT vote for Obama because his disease is the same as the Bush administration. Different symptoms but the same disease. Numb to the real needs of Americans, consumed by its own agenda.

I haven't done under 2,000,000 in total business the whole time Bush was president. This year I'm down 22% with this fine president we now have. I'm going to get to pay higher taxes, get to lay off more of my help and to top it off, lose some more of my freedoms. Yep the Messiah is all that and a bag of chips alright!
