I have a pistol grip on my tremec. Its angled slightly for the 2/3 shift so encourages me to just shove it straight forward and not 'help it' across which seems to work for me.
Heres a crappy in car of my conservertive shifting totally off the gas pedal (budget racer) Its all set up to p/shift...just gotta be a man and do it.
Still learning to run the fox but happy with its/my progress.
And yes my hatch popped open a good 2ft onlaunch

i think the problem is with it being taller and having more leverage. The gates are so close together that with the stock handle I don't even really push over at all for the 2-3 shift. with taller knob i do.
maybe a different shifter or stick would help. This is what is normally in the car and i have never missed with it.

thats a pro 5.0 shifter with a short stick. I like the way the pistol grip feels but it just doesn't work for me. On the street the pistol grip makes shifting easier but when trying to do it quickly at the track I miss
