so would you agree then that faceplated is more street friendly due to less maintenance over the proshift mod?

id love to see some videos of faceplated cars on the street downshifting...ive never seen or heard what its like

I had a proshifted Richmond street 5 speed and now have a faceplated G force GF5R. Faceplated is the only way to roll on the street.

Yes. I think its a little more money on the initial investment, but worth it.

Excellent video. It really is that easy. The only thing I do differently is when downshifting, I blip the throttle a little harder to match the revs higher. He tends to coast before downshifting to scrub off some speed. I would just rev it a little higher so the rpms would match sooner, than waiting until your slowed down.

i wish i had more incar vids. the only stuff i have is from when was trying a pistolgrip knob. Taner had warned me and he was right. I couldn't find any gears so I was shifting as slow as a faceplated trans will in this vid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jvvOjM_TxQ&feature=fvsr
in this N/A vid you can hear the 2/3 shift(the problem spot in a t56)

Thats what I had in mine (an origional chrysler pistol grip) and I LOVED it! To each there own I guess. I think alot of it depends on driver location in relationship to the shifter handle.

I wondered later if he had a knob that came loose. I just ordered a Pistol Grip conversion kit yesterday and one of my friends later said he had one, but went back to a ball shifter knob
The ball feels akward to me on the vertical gate to downshift...but I have not driven it yet ( 50 feet in my laneway doesn't count)

nope I hate it. I was missing 3rd then I went from 3 to 2 on one pass.
Taner(fastest t56 Lt1) said I would have trouble with it and he was right
Have never missed a gear with the stock knob

I can see on a F body where it hay not be very comfortable. My set-up (833 chrysler hemi box behind a 468 BBC) had the shifter very close to my right leg so I wasn't really having to push across on the 2-3 shift. Mine almost acted like a vertical gate shifter.

Looking at the video, that handle really has your wrist rolled forward. I can see how the 2-3 shift would be uncomfortable.
