Default How fast are you on the tree?

We've been exploring slow reaction times on race day, and the video below is part of the search for the answer.

Are you faster than the slow-ass driver in the video?

Thoughts and comments from fellow phucksticks are welcome

It was 0.104 Eddie, that's as fast as it gets (without deep staging). Usually in the 0.130 to 0.150 range.

That was a 7.90 pass. Can't take this stuff too seriously or it will start to mess with your head on race day. All the data suggest that the car still needs some fine tuning - and the driver can still use some more practice too

your reactions time depends on how fast your car reacts in one car you may have 044 and in another car you may go red

thats correct. last year I was consistently .020 to .040 on about 95% of my runs. we changed the converter and with same procedures i was .030 to .55. it was all in how the car was reacting. the 60 foot times slowed a bit and the reaction times did as well.

Its not you, its the car and how long it takes for the car to be ready, do you have a practice tree? If not let me know and I send you one to play with. Best thing to do here is mount a led light on the back of the car somewhere and video it, if you're not moving in six or so frames.....shock collar time. JK nice run David!

I do have a practice tree George and I "play" with it regularly. With the default roll-out (0.240 I believe), I'm able to red light and routinely cut 0.025 lights. I even went so far as to connect the practice tree to the TB switch in the car so I could make sure that the position wasn't adversely affecting my reactions. On race day, I just connect the practice tree harness to the light bulb on the dash.

I know that the car is a big factor, and we shot the videos to dissect what is happening in an attempt to get the car to react faster. I've watched the video dozens of times. If you watch closely and rapidly pause/start the video, you can see that the first movement the car makes is to lift the nose up well before there is any movement forward (you can see that both prestage and stage bulbe are on as the car lifts). This is followed by the car finally moving forward (evidenced by the prestage bulbs turning off) as the green bulb falls.

No question the car is in need of some work. Need to get it to move forward sooner and not lift the nose up.

I caught a .002 in Q3 at my last race, and this season I've always qualified with a .0-something. That's on a pro tree, deep staging, and leaving off the foot AND parking brake... Man, I gotta get a t-brake... :-/
