Default C4 overhaul. Need input.

Trans is out right now and I'm considering a trans brake and converter if nothing too expensive is wrong with it. The fluid had some metal shavings in it so it's being stripped down to see what and if anything is wrong.

Proformance transmissions where I got it from says a brake won't make the car any faster, but will make it more consistant. I can't foot brake any higher than 1500 or else the car will move forward so I can't give it much throttle so my boost is low off the line. I would think having it wide open at 3,400 RPM with a brake and leaving like that would leave MUCH harder, but apparently I'm wrong?

The only other way to make it leave harder is to loosen the converter even more, BUT the car is already struggling on the big end as it is. The car SHOULD be trapping 140, but instead averages about 133.

My original idea was to tighten the converter a few hundred RPM and put in a trans brake to take care of the problems at both ends, but am being talked out of it. Second opinions?

A brake may pick you up but won't make you pick up 7 mph. What kind of numbers are you getting from the car now mph/trap rpm/tire size? Can you turn the blower any harder?

Well, I was hoping that tightening the converter would help me on the big end. best ET is 9.96 @ 135 with a 1.50 60' crossing at 7,000 with a 7,000 rev limiter. Rear gear is 3.90 and tires are M/T 28x10.5 ET Drags. Blower has a 2.9" pulley. I could go as low as 2.5", but don't think the motor could take it.
