I don't watch the show. But like everything else you need a operator that's smarter than the equipment they're operating.

Looks like their "expert" needs to use a little common sense with their pump equipment. Unless you have lots of good clean water you cant run the foot valve for the pump in stock form. This is what I had to do to ours. The foot valve has screen around it and then it is in a wire minnow basket to keep the leaves away from it.

Can't believe what a bunch of scared pussies they are. That road was freeway compared to some I've drove there. And try doing it at night in an overloaded POS truck! lol! Taking your truck across a river on a barge is an everyday event there. Try sitting in a bus crossing a large river on a barge! And they are at the "edge" of the jungle, no where near "in the middle". Where I used to go was in the middle of the jungle! Several days up river in a small barge and then a couple more in a small canoe then hike in 8 hrs one way from a river bank miles from any village and then spend the night in a hammock by your fire. Get woke up at 3am by a Jaguar growling just out of sight. Bugs singing so loud it hurts your ears and mosquitos from hell. And they better keep their gear locked up or it will be gone by the morning. Bunch of thieves there!

Very hard. Most popular gun is a 16 gauge shotgun. Most are locally made using water pipe, thus the 16 ga size. Sure, there are AK's and AR's but impossible to find ammo and also just as difficult to purchase the rifle. And then you better pray you don't get caught with one without proper paperwork. Old CETME's .308's are common because of their use in the military but then again, not many on the open market. I carried a 16 ga double barrel pistol with me when I lived there.

Makes sense. 16 gauge double barrel pistol. That's badass.

Sounds like you were worse off than we are. I worked 2 hours up river from Pucallpa at the beginning of the year, now I work about 70 miles south of Atalaya on the edge of the VRAEM. Might end up north on the Equador border here soon. 2 days by boat from Iquitos.

I can't watch the show here, but I'm guessing the guys had no fucking idea what they were getting into...
