I have been shooting in RAW for a year now and love the benifits of leaving my WB in auto and adjusting as needed later! What editing prog. do you use?

I shoot raw for the most part too. Sure, it's more work later but well worth the extra step to process the shots to gain more control over what you get. It's not a miracle worker and getting it right in camera is still the best policy but it's still nice to have the extra room that raw offers.

I use Lightroom to process my RAW files and really like it, though, it's fairly slow, or hardware intensive if you like. Most of my shots never see PS after going through lightroom.

Only thing I have is CS3.

Are you using CS3 to process the raw files? CS3 uses ACR (adobe camera raw) to process raw files which is the same basic thing as lightroom except that it only does one shot at a time where as lightroom you can process whole galleries. You can also cut and past settings between different raw files, remove dust spots, there is a local adjustment brush tool that is very cool, etc...

Give LR a trial run and I'm sure you'll want it.

I shoot everything in Raw now. Media cards are relatively inexpensive. I set the camera on Raw and Jpeg. If you have the space you can have the best of both worlds. After spending some time in lightroom or photoshop you will see the difference between both. I agree if you are not printing large format, jpeg will be fine. But you never know if that one shot may be needed vey large and with great detail!!
