duck hunt 12-18-08

some friends and i went to a hole we only hunt 2 or 3 times a year this morning. we killed some woodies, gadwall, mallards and teal (blue and green wing) after we got done shooting we let the bird keep falling in and when we got up to leave there were about 500 on this hole. in this spot we dont use decoys or calls, they just come in like black birds!! located in south east texas

Awesome kill.. I always been told,, if I ever went duck huting , I would throw away my rifles and cuss deer hunting,,, don't know 'bout all that but would like to try it sometime.

GEEEEZZZ Here in VA on the Potomac if you get 2-3 a person in a morning hunt you had something to talk about. NOTHING like that. I went out last week and froze my ass off and shot @ 1 single and missed the fucker!:smt070

dont get me wrong, the hunting in this area is not really that good, just this one spot. thats why we dont hunt it much cause if we did they would go somewhere else. we have tried decoys and calls and they just flare off we they get close. and yes we do eat them, i dont personally hunt just for the kill... i eat what i shoot and i wouldnt say i would give up deer hunting for ducks but it is alot of fun

also the hurricane whiped out all of the marsh area just south of here so they dont have anywhere to go down there, i think this is a big factor.

I ask, because I have never had duck. How does it taste and how do you cook it?

well i will tell you this, if it isnt cooked right it taste like shit! if i cook them, i just cut each piece of the breast meet in half, add some jalopena and cheese, wrap them in bacon and grill them or in a jumbo. i know a lot of people that just dont like them at all

They tatse like greasy shit...not worth the effort to shoot and clean the damned things.
Allen will shoot anything that moves though...so he don't care.
The guy on the left in the pic will shoot anything that moves too...up to and including people. LOL

This is true, I have not really deer hunted since I started duck hunting back in 96. When it gets bad slow I might puck up a rifle and walk the farm here just to see if I can shoot a doe. Just make sure your first hunt is with someone who has a blind or go on a guide hunt.
