What do ya all recommend for differentials? Eaton, auburn, ford motorsports, any others etc... no spools, and I'm sure the arb is out as well due to prive. I have a feeling he will cheap out and go with the ford motorsports cause it was the cheapest listed in summit for around $260 and the others were closer to $500. any problems with that? whats everyone opinion?
He's upgrading to 31 spline in an 89 mustang Gt convertible, street car, summer daily driver, stock weight (3500?) , s-trim, approx 500hp to the rear. He want the rear to handle 700hp for future upgrades.
Thanks
Mike

My first choice would be a Truetrac since it is all gears inside and they do hold up well over time. My second choice would be an Auburn pro series, but again once it wears it will need to be sent back to Auburn and be serviced. My 3rd choice would be a Trac-loc, it will hold for a little while but the clutches will need to be replaced over time depending on how much abuse.

I know of a few cars with 31 spline eaton posi's holding up to 500+ hp. Really good for the money.

F150's,explorers Have 31spline and bigger cross pin works pretty well and I believe it is the same as the fms piece.

i would say the auburn...we had a couple problems with the eatons busting the spider gears and these cars didnt have a lot of power at all.

Eaton until you break it then a detroit locker. T/L won't last long at all.....

Traclok's under normal driving usually only last about 40-60 thousand miles. FOr a street car an Eaton or Truetrac would be fine. Truetrac is my preferred choice.

I personally like the detroit locker the best for a street /strip diff.

That Truetrac is a bad ass piece , I put one in a diff build recently and was very impressed.
I think it would hold up to my drag car N/A.
