I was wondering if anyone from Michigan here has ever went on a guided "trophy" deer hunt in MI? I have been hunting in MI on state land for 27 years and the largest I've taken was a small 9 point. I would like to take a great buck once in my life. So if you can recommend a place I'd be interested for some feed back. Thanks

There are quite a few of these places in Michigan but it is pricey as hell, some places get $1000 a point. Theres trophy deer on state land ,you just have to put in the time to find them.

Thanks for your input. I have looked into a few sites and have seen some out rageous prices. I know that it takes hard work and a little luck to get that big buck but lets face it, most MI hunters don't pass up the smaller bucks so the can mature which reduces the amout of big bucks out there. On my ride home form opening weekend I saw at least 10 spikes on the back of cars and only 1 six point.

On a combo tag, you can take one buck of any size and one buck that has to have at least 4 points on one side. Then theres doe permits, some areas you can get a permit a day on private land, otherwise you apply for the area you want and they let you know in september if you got one.

If you want to kill a buck to hang on your wall and that's it, then a guided hunt is for you. Or, if you don't have fun when you are out in the wilds and love all the stuff that goes along with deer hunting, then go for it. If you want a real hunting experience stay away.
These guys that have managed game ranches already know the patterns of all the deer, know when they feed, know when they breed, they probably even know when they shit. It's pretty much a for sure deal, they find out what kind of deer you want to take and take you out to a stand and tell you how much it will cost to pop the one you want.
Not much fun if you ask me.

Is it a 1 buck county these guys are hunting in? If it's like the two buck counties here in Texas, a lot of guys will take a mature spike or doe opening weekend so they know there is meat in the fridge and spend the rest of the season looking for a wall hanger.

z289sec is rite i paid 1500.00 to go on a management hunt to my surprise it is where you go sit in blind with a guide and he tells you which deer to kill, some really great deer showed up we were told they were off limits, that would be a owner deer, so in a nut shell we paid 1500.00 to shoot a kule or a nondesireable buck, but we took some really nice deer but it was not what i call hunting, we all got 160 class deer it was somewhat fun , it gave us a chance to see how rich guys hunt, all the feeders were calibrated to go off at the same time and within 45 seconds there would 10-30 deer eating it was kinda like fishing in a barrel

also here nc they want to cut down on the population deer so some of my friends will kill 15-20 deer a year , you can legally kill 6 per year

We offer guided hunts in SW Texas. Yes, we know which feeder the deer go to and when the rut starts. We also are able to help the hunter choose the better deer and older deer. Many hunters get very excited when a 120" buck appears but we know a 150" deer that is 2 years older often follows this buck to the feeder and tell him to wait for him.
I agree that it sucks to watch trophy deer walk off because they are off limits. Unfortunately, this is a business just like selling cars. I like to go Chevrolet and look at the new Corvettes but I then buy a Malibu.
At this time, we offer a $2500 hunt that includes any buck without a tag in it ear or bucks 3.5 years or younger and a doe. Hunters are shooting 140" deer and someone will probably get a 160" buck as the rut is just starting.
The tagged deer or either 6 months or 2.5 years and "Geneticly Improved" deer and should grow to 180" to 210" at 5.5 years old.
Any Yellow Bullet members want to come down to Texas and I will give you 20% discount to cover travel, etc...

I do really enjoy sitting in the woods and taking it all in. I have seen many different animals waiting for the deer to come in. This year I saw huge cyote come through my patch of woods. In years past I have seen turkey, fox and bobcat. The bobcat actually started to come up in my tree 'til I scared it off, the next day there were turkey feathers all over where it made a kill. I'd just like to see more deer.

Come to Kentucky...We have a lot of public land in all areas of the state that have had huge deer taken off of them! I killed a 170 class deer that weighed 230lbs on opening day of gun season this year...11/8/08, although it was on my farm and not on public land. I think the "out of state" hunting permit is very reasonable as well. We also have a lottery draw for huge Elk in the eastern part of the state. Good Luck!

So you guys are down around Uvalde then? I'm sure you guys know Tom Malouf up in Wills Point. He's got some damn nice whitetails too.
Isn't there an extended season down there also?

Research Jackson County... And if that fails, my old landlord, a lifetime farmer by the name of Launstein is always a viable option. Due some research in Mason, MI. Ron is one of the coolest guys I've ever met; if you're into real, no fence, here are the pics of this deer at this locale, do what I say, and you'll see "this" buck for the rest of your life on your wall...... Hunting, Ron is your man. He enjoys watching a successful hunt almost more than having his own. Sounds like an infomercial I know, but that's what happens when people treat you right.

Yes, Tom hooked me up with 8 buck fawns this fall. They are as large as the yearling bucks that are native and have little 2 inch buttons at 6 months. We are on the north side of HWY 90 and rifle season ends January 4. I did not get MLD permits this year.
