Is anybody running the moser 35 spline axles? I have a 3200 pound car running 1000 hp on stock suspension 9'' rear with 10.5'' tire and 4.29 gear, I heard some bad things about mosier axles, is any of it true? Will I have problems?

You will want 40s for sure. Been there.

I'll let ya know when I break mine. Over 500 passes, but only 600-800hp in a 3200 lb car with a 'glide. Most of them in the 600hp range with whopping 1.4x 60ft's. Maybe 100 in the 1.2-1.3 60ft range when playing with the juice. Gonna have them gun-drilled over the winter.

As long as you do not chatter the tires you will be fine. The alloy Moser 35 spline axles have held up well, it is the 33 and smaller spline axles that I have had issues with lately.

I have heard that about the 33 spline and less also

I broke a 35 spline moser axle on a 275 drag radial.565 bb on single spray bar plate with 55 pill.Maybe because it was gundrilled.Replaced with another 35.If starting fresh I would go with 40.

I am starting fresh but I allready purchased the whole rear from qp, bolt in 9'' housing that I added the back brace, came with the strange pro case, pro gears and full spool and also the disk brakes, I added a cometition engineering anti roll bar kit and also iceman upper and lower double adjustable trailing arms with moroso trick springs and some cheap comp engineering adjustable drag shocks, I've allready heard that the shocks are junk and I plan on changing them, I also boxed the lower trailing arm mounts and also added a crossmember with a driveshaft loop that also ties into the front of the traling arm mounts and the diagonal bars behind the seats on the roll cage tie into, I don't plan on gundrilling these axles, also I don't want this to break either, not sure if I need the 40's

i am running 35 spline moser axles. 3000lbs n/a with a 5speed liberty and have not had a problem. ran 9.80's at 142mph with a 1.32 60ty. after 3 years pulled them out and they still look like new.

35 spline moser here too.they came with the car as a roller.the last owner had run some 7.80s @3100.i made a couple n/a 8.90s and broke the glide planeteries. gonna spray it with #350 fogger this spring and figure the rear end is the week link now that i put in a 2500hp transpecialties glide.thinking about getting a 40spline 3rd member and axles but moneys getting tight.

If i'm not mistaken, Sam Vincent uses(d) moser 35 spline gun-drilled axles on his 7 second nitrous car as well as Don Burton.

Both use 'glides so that kills some torque multiplication a little and is easier on the axles.

Here's an article on Don Burton's mustang that uses moser 35 spline gun-drilled axles. http://www.mustang50magazine.com/featuredvehicles/m5lp_0707_1980_ford_mustang_sso/index.html

Ran them for a long time... Look at them OFTEN.. With big power, they will eventually "Twist". When one of them has twisted almost one whole spline... Replace 'em... They WILL BREAK... Gundrilled 40's are the best...

i've been running the same moser 35 spline axles for over 10 years .. all the way from a 3100lb 468 900 hp plate system to a 2700 lb 632 with a fogger and a plate .. and they have been a great set of axles .. the 632 has been .104 to the 60 and .309 to 330 .. i know its a lil bit lighter but when it was heavy still had no problems .. Hi;35 spline will work fine, any chance you have to run a 40 spline do it.You wont have any problems with either. Thanks doug

If there are issues with the Mosers why do you guys keep running them? I mean you could get axles from Strange or Mark Williams. Both of whom make some of the best. Just curious as to the reasons to stick with Moser.

mark williams is the best...i bought mosers because the were cheaper, easily 1000passes on them, about 14years old.

I have the moser 35 spline gundrilled axles broke one in less than a year. Broke on the splines by the center section. When they warrantied the axle they sent me a solid axle as a replacement. Said i would break it again. My car a little over 3000lbs 28x10 tire making around 1000 hp on the juice.

Had strange axles in my 8.5 ten bolt never had an issue with them. I went with the moser rearend cause stranges turnaround time for the complete 9" was way longer than i wanted to wait. Why change manufacturers when they have a 10 year warranty on their axles. Believe me i was contemplating changing to Mark williams axles when i broke the axle.

Moser told me they would only gun drill 40's and didnt recommend 33's for radials.
My 35's have gone 1.20-1.22 60 foots, with a few pretty violent wheel hops...so far so good....

My new 35 spline moser axles are on their way as we speak.........gundrilled and star flanged:confused:

Upgrading from 31 spline mosers, which seen 1.26 60's, and which are still in mint shape.

This is what there shop forman told me. I was gonna go with 33's again when I narrowed my 8.8. But he said since I was also going from slicks to radials, 35's would be better and he didn't recommend gun drilling them........

When I talked to the Moser rep at the national event last year he said gun drilling the 35's would be no problem (for me that is!). I didn't talk to him about the star-flanging thing. Said it's a few days turn-around for the gun drilling.

Must be due to the wheelhop/tire shake of the radials.

Mike Beck, I ordered mine last week, and should see them today, up here in the great white north;)

Ya....thats where he figured I'd have problems....tire shake with radials is extremely violent....broke the trans once but not the rearend.
