I'm very lucky to get this one. I was sitting in my tree just before dark when I slowly turned my head to the left and saw him about 20 yds away, and before I could get my gun up, he bolted off back in the woods (must have caught my scent). He ran for about 80 yards, stopped and turned to look back. I could barely see him through my Sightron scope with all the innumerous branches, twigs leaves, etc, and couldn't get a decent shot. After a couple minutes he turned and started walking back farther into the woods. I just caught a small window to shoot through, so I aimed for his tail in hopes to hit the spine, so I slowly squeezed the trigger of my trusty ol' Remington 742/30-06, and he dropped right there, on the spot. No gut shot, and only slight damage to one of the hind quarters.

Just off our property outside of Mio in the Huron National forest. Not many bucks like this around there because of the lack of farm lands.

Yea I hunt in Grayling and the genetics are horrible, to see a deer like that in my area where I hunt would be nice.

You shot a deer in the ass on purpose? LOL. Big body on that one!
