12 bolt or 9 inch

how much hp will a 12 bolt hold i am building a 67 chevelle with a 496 big block and f3r procharger.somewhere around 1400 to 1600 hp will a 12 bolt hold up or do i need a 9 inch.

have heard that you need to weld some brackets where your upper control arms bolt on you make two differant holes from the original hole where you would bolt it to the car.is this true?

he said to make one 1" from the original hole and then make another one 1" center to center from the 2 hole.just wondering if this will work.

You would be pushing it with a stock12 bolt housing becuase of the ears for the uppers they will break, if you can afford it go with a 9 inch and not a stock one either you will need every peice to be top grade aftermarket to hold 1600 hp even the housing.

thats what i thought just wasn't really sure.will get a fab 9 inch.thanks

would love some info on the brackets for the uppers.thinking of doing this.
