dr detroit, i have 40ac and there's about 15 deer eating the clover right know. i have had 30-40 deer in the field at once. i do have a few very nice bucks coming out this yr. last yr i never even left the house. i just set up the back room and shot out the window. before everone starts saying i'm poaching, i only shot at legal light.

I just got thru looking out my front door and spotted a NICE 16 pt whitetail. He followed a doe to my creek.
Sure would have been an easy shot.

Drove the kid into school this morning and as I was coming back I took the long way..You know that time of the year..
Sure enough coming down south 125 in Monroe county in front of me a whitetail crosses the road about 200 yds ahead of me then runs through a green wheat stubble field.
SO I pull over...before jerk my little nocks out...
First thing I notice looks like it is limping as it trotted. I see horns but also see a arrow in the upper left shoulder.
Then I get the nocks on him...WOW...grab my other nocks 10 x 50
HOLY SHIT!!! Yeah that's a arrow shaft stuck in his shoulder blade. No Blood flowing and this deer has a FRIGGIN OAK TREE COMING OUT OF HIS HEAD!!!
I counted a typical 14 nice points and best he was about 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick at the base. G1's & G2's were at least 5 inches long.
This was a easy 20 inch spread Buck 140-150 B&C Class...
I watch him for about a 11/2 mi across this flat field then he went into the woods along the train tracks...
Man I started panting like a dog in heat...

Yeah..I know where he is at...I am even sure I would or could see him again.
Deer like that in the wild would be a trophy of a lifetime for a hunter like me. They are all over Southern Michigan. Just go to the buck Pole in Dundee at Cablea's on opening day...

But no way can I hunt him....
Its all private property and no one in this Friggin Monroe County lets you hunt!!!!:-damnit

Its been slowing down for me as far as the number of bucks Im seeing a day. Early season I was seeing about 5 to 8 bucks a day. Most of these were 1 1/2 olds. Now Im averaging 1-2 bucks a sitting. Not in their bachelor groups anymore they're all chasing tail.

I like bow hunting better because its actually hunting, but Im looking forward to slinging some lead.

Jeff the deer down here look like cattle. But you cant hunt. I have asked and asked. They are all over the place too. They have got to be doing crop damage. I dont get it...They have no pressure and a huge area cover or freely go as they choose.
Next few countys over Len, Wash and Jackson produce the biggest deer in the state but same goes for them. Unless you know someone or are family forget it.....:-damnit

I hunt about 1/2 mile from indiana line on a big farm, back managment deal on the block I hunt and the one next to it. That makes it easier to smaller bucks. Seen 4 140-150" bucks so far, seen the one 3 times just out of bow range. Should be a fun opening weekend. Good luck to all of you !
