Taps for boost gauge and surge valve

I need to run a line or two to the intake for my boost gauge and surge valve. My intake was plumbed at one time for a fogger. Can I just use those old ports for this? Or do they need to be in the upper plenum area of the intake? I'd think the pressure / vacuum would be basically the same in either location. The carb I'm using doesn't have any PCV or other ports in the base of it.

I would put them in the upper plenum area of the intake.
