Folks, Please stand by for some turbo Virgin questions & be gentle & patient with me.

issue #1: as you can see the "square flange" of this transition is not really square. it somewhat fits. do I just weld the tube to the flange on this side.

Flip it over & beat it into submission on this side & then go back & finish welding it on the other side?

should I heat it up first Before I beat the snot out of it?

thanks
Bob

We beat mine out to fit all the way around. Chris at Behind Bars Race Cars did mine, he has a piece of solid square stock that he uses to fit the tubing and then finishes it with the flange. My two pipes come together right there too. Good luck.

What i have done is tack the outside inthe middle of each side where it is touching. Then on the inside I use a pair of vicegrips with a ball welded to it to squeeeeeze the corners into place. If it is tough tubing heat helps. for my ford header flanges I have a piece of square steel stock radiused and use it as a punch once i have the outside tacked.

I just "massaged" mine to fit, and welded it inside, and out... To weld the inside, you may want to recess the tube in the flange some...

Keep us posted on your progress Bob! :)

Right on guys thanks for the idea's.

I have a chisel that the handle looks like its the right size. I might try the sqeeze it in Vice Grips thing & see if that gets me there.

thanks again
Bob
