Jay how much power can be picked up by changing cam and springs. Car is 96 impala ss 50k miles More than likely going to change rear gears and the normal bolt on stuff TB,Exhaust,Pulleys, Ram Air.Would like to keep it as driveable as possible How much would one of your cams cost for that.

I personally know of a test that was done by some GM types. The cam that is in that car is a ridiculous (and retarded) reverse split cam. My guess is this was done to keep the RPM's down. Here is what was switched:
A full roller rocker was used.
Good springs.
Good lifters.
Good PR.
The camshaft? A stock Corvette ZO-6 cam.
On this test, 27 RWHP was gained.
Certainly I could design something better, but for the money that would be tough to beat. Please let me know what you want to do. PM me if interested.
Thanks!

Just a FYI a freind of mine has a LT1 camaro he changed the cam added headers and a small stall also stepped up to a 4.10 gear. I know stock these cars ran around the 14.50 mark he was able to turn a 12.8 with ease first time out and his mph should net him a 12.5-6 that is with no real tune on the car either.. Not sure what the hp gain is but these motors seem to have a lot more power just waiting to be found... He had some bearing issues and we are in the process of fixing it and hope to do some more testing with the car...
