I am putting the 700HP small block and TH400 with brake out of my Monte into a 66 Chevelle. I am torn on what to do for the rear end in the Velle. I have a 9" in the Monte but the housing and axles are set up for the G body so it won't bolt into the Velle and is a few inches narrower. It does have an N case and 3.50 gear I like plus Explorer discs. I do not like the 31 spline locker it has because it is noisy when I drop it into gear. The Velle has a factory stock 12 bolt posi with 4:11 gears. I can either put Ford ends on the 12 bolt and upgrade the posi unit and caps and cover or buy a Fab9 housing and axles and save the dropout and brakes from my Monte. I would still have to do something different than my locker diff and am open to suggestions. I could live with a 4:11 gear because I have plans for a Gear Vendors OD in the future. This is a street car that I race on the weekends.
