Broke the 12 bolt over the week-end,car is 3700# bbc f-2 1500hp,1200ft lbs ,ladder bar 3.42-3.55gears. 315-60-15 dr th-400,,foot braking 1.25 60s , Im looking for a dif that will handle t-brake lauches, 50 mile criuses & not have to always be thinking its gonna break this time. the car is all-ready heavy so dont mind the dana, im thinking that the gears themselfs are the weak-link,wana do it & be donne.:-fire
thanks Mike

just my .02 but a ford 9" with the chevy center section. the chevy style center section doesn't take as much power to turn. http://www.strangeaxles.net/catalog/index.html ran one in a 1700hp+ car that weighed 3600#

the trick is to run it tight .06-.08 so there very little play. most brands of gears are about the same. i haven't found one to be stronger then another

.

Just a thought. Around here a 9" with 35 spline axles is the most common.
We have tested, loaned, borrowed ect when building cars or racing and broke something in mine or a buddies car.
It's easier to borrow then a dana, or 12 bolt. It would suck to miss the final points race when you broke something.
With a 9", you can have a new gear in 15 minutes.
