Hey guys need some help. I just fired my new gm shortblock with trickflow alum heads and a stock L98 (corvette) hydraulic roller with new gm roller lifters. I installed a set of new summit brand 1.6 roller rockers and they rattle like mad. It soulds like a badly adjusted solid lifter cam! Has anyone heard of these or roller rockers in general making this much noise? It sounds brutal. I even over lashed (o+ 1 full turn) the whole pass side and the noise doesn't change. Thanks

make sure it is not a guide plate issue, Check the pushrods for sign of Impact.
hey rob are you sure they didnt give you the self aligning kind of arm i know with the late model heads that use the self kind if you use the old style you cant get them to quiet down. good luck

They are a narrow body rocker for the center bolt heads but don't have the washers on the side of the roller tip that the self aligning ones do. They are suppose to be for a centerbolt head running guide plates, which is the combo I have. I'm going to swap the steel 1.5 rockers back in tommorrow to see if the noise is gone. Thanks for the tips.

Center bolt heads I have seen them hit the valve cover boss inbetween the rockers, but it sounds like a clearance problem to me, there is no way a rocker can make that kind of noise by itself.

I'm running the tall GM performance valve covers which "should" eliminate that as a cause but I will look while I have them off. Thanks guys....

ditto on them hitting the valve coverson the inside, us late model guys have to clearance them to run the nicer roller rockers.
with plates , alignmeny shouldn't be an issue.
g'luck! i am sure you'll nail it down.

Looks like I got what I paid for. Buy a cheap roller rocker, get a cheap roller rocker! I'm sure they will be more than adequate for the peanut cam I'm running. Between the new alloy heads and the alloy rr's the valvetrain noise just doesn't get absorbed like it did with the steel heads and stock rockers! A better rr probably would have made less noise but still made noise non the less. A solid lifter camshaft rattle just doesn't suit the car. IMO Hope you get the bugs worked out of the ign. in time to put some miles on her.

is the under side of the rocker arm hitting the retainer? is the rocker arm for a 7/16 stud and are you runnig a 3/8 stud?( I know its a dumb question but sometimes parts can get mixed up when ordered by mail )
