Hey guys, I'm a newb. Hoping I can get some advice converting a N/A BBC to a blow thru F2 procharger. I'm only planning on <15# boost with a goal of ~1000 fwhp due to the bottom end. Going to run pump gas or 110 if needed; not running an intercooler. I want a low maintenance, economical setup right now.

I need to order parts this week for the machine shop to finish my shortblock. Here's what I have: GM 4-bolt block 4.320" bore, SCAT 4340 crank 4.25", CAT 6.385 rods.

Main question is what ring pkg to run. I was going with the Total Seal Max Seal gapless top / low tension oil ring, 1/16-1/16-3/16. Is this a waste of money? Should I just get a good std. ring set? Is a low tension oil ring a bad idea if I'm not planning on keeping my vac. pump? Should I go to a .043 top ring? Anything to stay away from?

Next, should I 1/2 fill the block w/ Hardblock? I'm worried if I do it will run hot during *very limited* street crusing. I do have a nice 2 core Ron Davis radiator setup.

Would 9.5:1 compression be Ok? I'm shooting for 9:1, but it's looking like the shelf pistons will give me either 8.5 (dish) or 9.5 (flat top). I think 8.5 is too low for my power goal and I'd rather have a flat top piston.

Last, I was planning on coating all the bearings, piston skirts and maybe piston tops. Is this a waste of money for this conservative power level?

Thanks a ton for any help! My plan is to run this motor for maybe 2 seasons, then get a stout Dart/Callies short block capable of more boost.

Rest of my combo consists of Canfield CNC ported 335 heads, solid roller cam, Dart 4500 intake and probably a CSU or Carb Shop carb.

See any issues here?
