I have about 4 racoons living in the wash behind my house and one tried to attack my dog today. Also my three year old playes in the yard all the time. How do I Kill these bastards without shooting them I live too close to all my neighbors and I am worried about a bullet ending up in the wrong place?

I think you would be better off using a live trap for them. First it is illlegal to poison them, you might just kill somebody dog or cat instead. Try using a can of the cheapest sardines you can find in the store and use them for bait. When you cacth them just change their zip code. Beside I dont think you could get a coon to eat that much poison, Rat bait work by body weight so they would have to eat a large amount to kill them. You can find these traps in your local Home depot or Lowe's for $20-$25. good luck

I heard the coons say the neighborhood really went down hill when the white trash and their dogs and kids moved in.

Moving to the outskirts of town and complaining about wild life is like moving next door to a race track and complaining about the noise. You moved into their neighborhood. Enjoy it for what it is, or move back where there are no trees and grass or an Owl to tell you when it's going to rain.

I'm betting there is a leash law for dogs but not for the Raccoon. Put up a fence and play them some Black Sabbath. They hate that. If you really don't want them, make sure there is no food for them to eat. Lock up garbage, feed dogs inside ect. and get your neighbors to do the same.

Now I have coyotes that run by my house and my Bulldogs don't bother them unless they pick on the cats. I rather enjoy hearing them talk to each other on a dark night. I also have wild geese off in the distance. The rabbits eat my vegetable garden, so I plant extra to keep them fed. That's why I moved out of the big city. You can't have it both ways.

if your going to kill them, do not poison them. Its illegal, and if it dies, something else is going to eat it and be poisoned as well. i lost a dog that got ahold of a decon'd squirrel.its not cool.

Livetrap does the job just fine, then take them out to the country and kill them.

Use a paint ball gun. They will get the hint. If you want you can "up" the anti, by putting the balls in the fridge or freezer.

I know a pest control guy that plays a loop Black Sabbath tape to get squirrels out of attics. It might work for coons. Not making food available will go a long way. Secure garbage and feed pets in side. Get your neighbors to help with this. I'd bet a dollar to a dough nut some one in the area has named them and is feeding them.

Get yourself a Treeing Walker Coonhound, they will make sure the racoons do not come around. I would send you my big girl but, I think we are too far, we're from Canada.:p

Im sure that any coon hunter in your area will be glad to trap the coons for you. you may have discouraged them for now but they will be back.

I donno... paintballs hurt pretty bad! If they come back shoot them with different color balls and take pictures. It would be funny as hell to see them all shot up with paint balls :)

I think you would be better off using a live trap for them and then bring them far away

In most states unless your a licensed nuisance trapper, it is illegal to trap or even spot light with out a dog. Check your game laws. Check also on shooting with in city limits and too close to a building.

We had a coon problem until my 135 lb German bloodline German Shepherd went to work.He snatches them up and mauls them in seconds. He acts like he really enjoys it too.

Sub sonic ammo in a 22 rifle work to if you can do one carefully placed shot at a time.

I shoot this stuff out of my son's cricket and it makes less noise than a pellet rifle.

Killed or moved , another batch of racoons will move into the area. The solution is for you to watch your dog and kid. I got 4 that live in my back yard. NEVER had a problem with them in the 8 years I've lived here. They don't tip over the garbage or anything. Occasionally Scrawney will come up to the door for some old cat food but he's never damaged the screen or anything else. The last thing a coon wants is a fight with a dog. They got better things to do like eek out a living. Your dumb dog( I like dogs there just dumb) probaly got attacked in self defense when HE attacked them. The racoons in my yard always try to avoid any other animals including the small beagle and pug next door. Really I think your just parinoid.
