Just want to brag about my 14 & 17 year old daughters. They took their hunter safety course last week at Williams Gun Sight in Davison, MI. Each scored 100% on their written test and hit 2 of the 3 clay pigeons. We are going to be hunting this weekend in the youth deer hunt. You can shoot either buck or doe, although we've had our eye on a nice 8 pointer that ventured into the back yard twice in the last month. Hope to see him in the woods. Good luck to all that hunt this weekend and be safe.

Nice to see the kids actually shooting the deer.

Its bad enough the youth hunt spooks the dear...but when the father simply shoots the deer and has his child with him just so he can get in the woods before regular season is depressing.

I'm all about passng the tradition of hunt down as it was to me. My son has passed on more than one buck because he felt that it was low percentage and would rather not chance it. in fact one of those bucks hangs on my wall I shot the deer myself. He uses his head and I am damn proud of him. shame on the dads that are out there shooting deear for there kids thay are the same guy's hunting on land without permission and shot illegal animals outside of shooting hours. I just hate to think bad habits are just passed down and every genaration just gets worse. I think good habits are rewarded with good memorys and trophys. heres a couple of mine.

Well my daughter did not get a shot but we did see a few. The best thing was on Saturday morning two deer walked withing 10 feet of us and hung around for about 5 minutes. One was a button buck which she pointed out to me before I had a chance to tell her, the other was a small doe. We are going up to Mancelona this weekend to set up our blinds for the anual family rifle hunt. Nice job on your sons deer.
