Did you get to run it all until the trans let go? Naw,I havent had much time to play with it yet.I've only drove it around twice and the 2nd time broke the trans.
First time it was out it didnt quite feel like it had alot down low and had some trouble restarting car after it was hot (I still do,I'll get to that) so I made some changes at the dist. I originally had it set @ 38 Total in at 2500 rpm, off a 20 deg swing which had initial @ 18 deg.... What I did was change it to 36 deg Total in at 3400 rpm, off a 25 deg swing with initial @ 11 deg. Man what a difference that made !! alot crisper off idle and pullin real hard starting around 3800 or so. I had my brother with me,and it was runnin so good I had to try the spray to see how it was goin to act. Like I said in the Trans section I hit it with the car on the roll cause I new the slicks would have no chance from a dead dig.So I had er' going about 10 /15 mph and tromped it,Man that bitch just about jumped out of its skin !!!I couldnt beleive how hard that phucker hit, took it through first, hit second and it was all over, trans just let go about a second or so into 2nd.So no more testing till its back in. It got dropped off over at CTS today by Matt Beebe,So we'll see how bad it is here shortly,so I can start doin some more tuning.... Oh yeh, lash is set @ 18 int , 22 exh right now.
Ok,I'm having a little trouble restarting the motor after it get warmed up ?? Engine cranks more freely now with the initial lower, but its like its not getting spark or something ??Have to wait till it cools a little to restart it.....Maybe its a coil prob or something ???

Obviously its heat related.
-Too much heat in the cylinder? Pump gas?
-Spark plug hear range?
Tighten the valve lash HOT and see if it gets better. Did you install the camshaft by the IC method? Open at .050? Or did you do the *lift at TDC* as I instructed?

Tell ya the truth Jay.I got tired of waiting for the tools to do it,guy said I could borrow them but never produced so I just put it in.would have been esier with the heads off, but they werent....I'm still going to check it though when I get them together and see where its at....I know your pissed but hey,I'm impatient...
The heatrange on the NGK plugs is 7
Fuel is straight Turbo Blue
Should I just use lash suggested , cause I know we had quite a variance as far as loose and tight

Oh boy. Thus, we have no clue where the cam really is.
And yes, patience is not one of your stronger attributes, :-D

Ok,went around the corner to Wayne @ Headwinds to borrow the tools and he offered to come over and check it out, brought the piston stop and the setting on the balancer is correct. Hooked up a cool little Dial indicator that threaded right into the valve cover bolt hole and checked it right off the pushrod and the cam is sitting at 108 @ .1076 lift,,,,,thats pretty damn close, nice job.....
Did some further checking into things and looks like the float levels are off quite a bit (High),And thinks I should try running timing at 34 deg total and see how it acts. He said he's seen as much as 35 hp & 25 ft lbs swing from as little as 2 deg totals on the dyno ???? Is that correct ?? wow if it is !!
Another he suggested was to bump up the initial a little bit cause it had tendencies to cause higher cylinder heat from the exhaust because of the shorter duration ?? Wow its gettin technical here !! Whadaya think Jay ???
Man,I got to get my smiley's workin,,Ha

Man,I got to get my smiley's workin,,Ha The timing needs to be where the timing needs to be. That is where the car runs the quickest. I have seen it all at one time or another. 28* total, 42* total.
On the shorter duration. You need to forget those words. There are WAY too many variables. Like lash. Like duration at .200. Like dwell time at full lift. Just keep playing and maybe, just maybe, you'll tear up your transmission again.

Stopped by CTS yesterday and it is still sitting on the floor not even dissasembled yet, what a bummer........

What all have you changed?

What all have you changed? What I changed was the camshaft & intake, I replaced the mufflers, went back to the same 2 chambers I had.And I went to belt drive on the water pump as opposed to electric, and put a larger amp alt on it,and thats about it... I saw your reference to breaking the trans in the trashed zone and was thinking it might have been caused by a larger no2 shot possibly,,when that happened I was hitting it with about 225,since then I keep it to a 150 shot
