I went to his show many years ago. The guy did things that my eyes couldn't believe. I was there! He did them!! How do I know this guy is not Jesus? He put knives threw people and they walked away without a scratch! I had seen it with my own two eyes. Now if I was to write a book 30-40 years later this guy would look like a miracle worker. How do we really know God has not sent down another Jesus? Shoot maybe I'm Jesus! How would one know who the next Jesus is and would you believe him if he told you he was him?

Here is my overall question. If someone came up to you on the street and said he was Jesus you would tell him to take a hike!! How do we know if it really is him or not? They didn't know 2000 years ago it was really God's son!! So why would we believe it today?

For the original question, in a word... no

This will be what we will see... (BTW Benny Hinn is bad news, stay away from that yahoo.)

Matthew 24

23 "Then if anyone tells you, 'Look, here is the Messiah,' or 'There he is,' don't pay any attention. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great miraculous signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones. 25 See, I have warned you. 26 "So if someone tells you, 'Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,' don't bother to go and look. Or, 'Look, he is hiding here,' don't believe it! 27 For as the lightning lights up the entire sky, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. 28 Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.

I recommend you read the whole chapter Matt 24 (http://bible.gospelcom.net/passage/?search=Matthew%2024;&version=51;)

Mark, that’s what I like about you. You use education to answer a post rather than anger. I have a lot of questions about religion. I lost faith many years ago due to some events that happened in my life. I have asked a lot of religious people the same questions and I’m always made out to be an idiot to have such question. I am always told to just believe. Well, I'm not one to say I believe if there is still a lot of unanswered questions. Everyone always says "God works in mysterious ways" That’s fine to believe but why does God put a family through the hardship of having a child only for it to die within a few years or days? Why does one have to live life with killing all around? Why does one have to live with hate and/or hurt?

There are 3000 religions out there. Which one is right? I say they are all right! Why? because they all look to a higher power. Why can't all of religions just agree to disagree? Why must they kill each other in the name of God? Why do most people cheer when we are winning a war and innocent lives are taken? I know.. I know.. I'm a tree hugger!!! But if I am I guess Jesus was one too!!

I know I'm full of questions... :-D and usually dont have any answers.. but I do learn when a post like yours and others are posted with education rather than hate and/or being degraded...

Amen Mark.

We will know when THAT day occurs. Unfortunately for many it will be like a Thief in the night.

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" The words of Christ himself.........You only hear temporarily.....your home is with God :-D

One more thing, tragedy and heartache fall upon all of us. Even though it sucks.......without it how would recognize our blessings?

Monty... sorry it took me awhile to get back to this post... to many irons in the fire these days. Often folks come to us and say, "I'm not a very religious person, but I have a question," Our standard answer is neither are we (religious) we're followers of Jesus Christ and are but humble servants trying to do His will for our lives.

When we look at world religion and try to figure out which one is the right one we have to stop and decide one factor, is the bible the inspired word of God. If you believe that, then we have a base to start from. I gentleman by the name of Josh McDowell set out some years ago to prove the Bible was bunk. He was an atheist. Through his research of history, how the accuracy of the old testament was preserved by the Jews, a rather phenomenal set of rules for the level of mistakes allowed per copy (it was like 1 per so many 1000's of words they were destroyed, they've found parts of copies) and the number of manuscripts of the various books of the New Testament. BTW, manuscripting is considered the best way to find the accuracy of any given book. The more copies and the closer to the original date of the events the more accurate.

The 2nd most manuscripted book in the world is Homer's Iliad. There are roughly 643 copies dating to within 400 years of the original copy, which was written in 800 BC.

The New Testament is the most manuscripted book in history. There are over 25,000 copies of various portions of the new testament in about a dozen languages dating to within 50 years of the actual events of Jesus' life.

So if you take the bible as the divinely inspired and historically accurate book, then you have to believe in the God of Israel and of the prophesies of a coming Messiah.

Prophesy... there are over 300 predictions of the coming Messiah in the Old Testament. Jesus full filled everyone of those prophesies. He did it in less than 33 years. There is way more to McDowell's book (The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict), some 760 pages if you'd like to read through them. The facts are eye opening. After working through all of the evidence, McDowell became a follower of Jesus.

So if you believe the Bible is God's word, then you have to believe what it's telling you about salvation through acceptance of Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Once you know the truth, the truth will set you free.

I use to believe that all of the religions where saying the same thing, just using different people. The main difference is the fact that Christ rose on the third day just like he said he would. Mohammed, Confucius, Buddha and countless others are all still buried in their graves...

Something to think about...

Blessings,
Mark

I've skimmed through Evidence that demands a verdict but haven't taken the time to read it yet. Another good book is Case for Christ. The Author Lee Strobel, was a Investigative Reporter out of Chicago(?), who was very liberal, athiest. He set out to investigate Jesus Christ specifically to disprove the whole deal.... Well wouldn't ya know it? He got Saved in the process. Great story.

The only problem I have with Lee now is that he hosts a show on Pax called Faith under Fire. It's a debate show defending the faith. Somehow every time I've watched it the opposing view seems to win because his faith defending guest has no Biblical knowledge.... ah well sorry for the hijack.
