Looking for a good Scan tool for my daily driver

Can anyone post where I can learn about and buy a decent scan tool that I can plug into my two daily drivers. Is there one that would work on both cars listed below:

2005 Grand Prix GT w/ a standard 3.8L
2006 Grand Prix GT w/ Supercharged 3.8L

Years ago I was up on this stuff with grand nationals and the Syclone truck I had, but I have been out of the loop for the past 15 years, on factory stock stuff.

Autotap was one that I used previously. There are several OBDII diagnostic tools out there that you can get including tuning tools. The biggest thing is making sure that if you get a programmer that you get one for your vehicle year. That is where they nail on the cost.
