Can you put posi 3.55 into a 8 inch rear, it is in a Mustang II 1977, if so what would be a good recommendation, if not any suggustions would be appriecated

If you want cheap and easy? Put a mini spool in it.

below is an ebay auction for an 8" mini spool for the photo. The mini spool locks the rear axles 100% all the time. Basicly you remove the spider gears out of the differential and replace them with the mini spool.
as for the 3.55 gears they shouldn't be a problem.
If you have access to a traction lock (ford posi) for an 8" you may want to stick with it if this is a daily driver.
