Ignition on/off

Was told the other day that it is easier on the starting system to crank the engine then have the ignition on a switch and turn it on. Is this true and if so which wire in a MSD 6al would you put the switch on?

Yes this is true, especially in High Compression applications.
You would have to install a switch on the small red wire, on the 6AL
