Lash question...

I know settings are to be made hot,,thats a givin......I'm just talking initial settings cold...I talked to a tech guy and lets say the lash is .022.I was informed to set this @ .024 Iron head,,or .020 Aluminum head...Would this be correct ??? Does the Iron head concract rather than expand as opposed to Aluminum??? I've always set my lash on the tight side with my Iron heads and never had a problem...I,m going to set a friends today and would just like a little more input before I go at it....... Aluminum expands.
Iron contracts.

If you are looking for .024" HOT, that is about (read again ABOUT) .019" COLD with aluminum and .027" COLD with iron.

But there are WAY too many variables that come into play. It needs a starter setting cold, then it MUST be checked HOT a t a few times to notice trends. Then and only then can a determination between HOT & COLD be made.

I say HOT lash as the engine tempurature the engine crosses the finish line.

Hey is your car going to be ready for april 1st? Is Jeffery taking the nova??? Dunno if its gunna happen dude,,,,waiting on camshaft still and I'm busy like a mofo at work..... Shoulda ordered the new stick a couple a months ago it looks like,but the engine is tore down awaiting the new heart transplant. If it gets here this week I'll work OT in my garage,but its a time thing..... Even if I dont have my car I'll be out there.

Dont see why we cant get Jeffs out there, He and a buddy of his purchased a new trailer last weekend and he should be good to go...Maybe I'll drive his ride instead if I cant get mine out...He He
