Hello Zeke1:
I thought maybe if I started a new thread it would spark some new conversation about cars and racing without mentioning swearing, fist fights, talk of gential parts and the lack of or sexual preferences. So here goes.
As I said before- My car is driving to Grand Bend to race there, it is an event that is totally suited to my car. By that I mean several things. Yes, we bracket race the car, but I also drive it ALOT. So, not only is it very fast but very streetable, so its the best of both worlds for us. We do the "Cannonball Run cruise" to Grand Bend- and all the fun that that implies and then we race all weekend for fun- and all the fun that that implies. We travel with a posse full of people that also like to do the same. We are a family/friends oriented bunch and as long as we are together we have FUN. If we get a trophy or a cheque in the mail, its a bonus. We had these cars long before they became race cars and would have invested the cash to get them the way we like them regardless, so payouts are not a factor. The money Ken got for the Spring Shootout is long gone (I probably bought make-up and sandals), and the gawdy trophies from WW's are buried in dust somewhere, but we still benchrace about the "tweaks to the motor" and reminisce about the afterhours campfire events. Just in case you are wondering, we have already driven the car to Grand Bend for a WW, us and 2 kids in the back seat, so we know it can happen. This WW is offering something new and exciting and we are looking forward to it, BUT, we would have raced at two events- NO PROBLEM. The track location (and IF there are improvements-and lightening strikes are SO unpredidable) is a non-issue, we get to St. Thomas as often as we can-TT or whatever- and plan to do the same this coming season. I appreciate the initiative to offer a new weekend of racing and would attend. I challenge you again- to give us another event to race, just not on the same weekend.
As for good or bad: married 20 years this summer- gotta be Bad to be Good!!
But like I said before- the Chief in not flexible on morals and principles and the way this all happened is not on even on his micrometer. These threads- I read them daily instead of watching my soaps (work full time now- new motors to pay for), refer to you all by your call-names- his only comment is " do you realize these are grown men you are talking about?"
As for tech-talk:
I have found that your advice about the purple carborator to be very accurate and think that it will be our next investment, along with a new intake. And you will be the first to know that it seems Ken is working on yet ANOTHER new motor!! No secret weapon this time, just right out there- try to cath us now!!!!!!!! Not that they have yet!!!!! That"s a bit of a bait for our racing bunch.......
I cruise and watch racing, he races and watches the cruising. We party, play and sleep together. We have fun with our car and will continue to do just that, hoping for a fun summer and wish the same for all. Again, I say, I hope that everyone appreciates the effort you have given and wish you the best.
Don't forget about the 1995 Buick LaSabre parts-car.
See Ya Sometime

Hey princess nice to have some new refressing topics the other stuff gets old quick so I know what you mean.
Like I said before I can't make anyone go anywhere, its the old you can lead them to water but you can't make them drink thing, I have no ill will to anyone and hope you have fun, and your right fun isn't who puts on the event or where its at it's who your with so as long as your with friends you have a good time, thats why myself and several hundred of my fellow racers several thousands of fans and freinds are goin too St Thomas dragway to have fun like we always do.
Its a shame things could not have worked out to have one great event after all thats what we all wanted but some people don't think the same way as us so we now have two events in the end it will probably be for the best, as for different dates your right we also would have wanted that but again some people don't think the same as we do so here we are and everyone needs to make the best of it.
As for cheif not having very flexable morals and principals thats great I'm glad someone has them if everyone did we would still have one great event with the highest payouts in Canadian history and the event would have doubled in size in just a few years but like I said not everyone thinks the same as we do, so now we will do our event and in time it will be the largest and highest paying event in Canada I know some might see this and think ya right not possible but in reality it not only can be but it should have been years ago, if done right the old event could have payed out $100,000+ instead it payed LESS than $20,000, Like I said it "was" a great event I alway enjoyed it but things needed fixing to make it an even better event and some people put themselves ahead of the event and thats not right I don't care who you are IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT !
As for the teck talk I'm glad I could help if you need anything else let me know I'm always willing to help where I can ask anyone at the track my place looks like a parts store with people lined up borrowing parts, I help everyone because thats the way it should be and because so many people have helped me in the past, I try to do my part and hope others follow.
As for others appreciating the effort I have put in I can tell you honestly not a single day goes by without someone thanking me for righting a wrong, and then they get pissed It wasn't done sooner, I guess you can't make everyone happy but I will still do my best to try. Like I said it "was" a great event but it could have been even better, but now it's not even as good as before, remember 500 race cars thats what WAS there but now theres only 250 or less and as people get the truth about the facts of the matter the number grows daily, I'm not saying I will get all of them but we honestly expect that by Sept. the Windsor shootout at St Thomas will have over 350 race cars and not just any race cars we will have the TOP half or the fastest race cars, people can see a jet car at any event at any track all year long but they can only see Windsors fastest and nicest at the Windsor shootout at St Thomas I hope to see you there too once I get to talk to you both in person I'm not giving up on ya just yet but if I can't change your mind atleast I know I gave it my best shot and thats what this is all about doing the best we can for the racers and if we can't do it atleast we can say we did our best and walk tall knowing it, I wish everyone could say the same.
Good luck princess hope you and hubby have a good year racing :-D

WOW well said...i guess it doesn'ty get any clearer than that !! By the way thanx again to performance club for their outstanding support of a race that will become the best in Windsor's history !! Great job guys !!

Hi Zeke1
I think I should clarify that I was not suggesting we have better morals or principles than anyone else, just that it didn"t work for us, the way it happened. And as for Ken- he is mean and cranky, so I have to be careful about how I boss him, and take the car and spend his money. I still do this of course- I just have to be careful about it!
And we hope to have others join in on our cursade to make this "split" in the racing community come back together by trying to support two events, not just one. Let me be clear that we have no problem with the idea of another event and will attend if we can- no objections to more racing.
I have no idea about payouts etc., what is standard for drag racing, so I take what you are saying as true. We are not idiots (really!), and if you want to pay out more for winnings- great- we will accept too!!! Its just not going to be a deciding factor for us.
Our car is neither the fastest nor the nicest(except in my mind), so that won't do it either.
Different dates- you should be able to control that- book now for next year- simple.
Now- for the really important stuff- if I stand in line- will you lend me your purple carborator?? Just to try it?
I have a black hood that I will lend to you.
Zeke1
03-18-2006, 08:50 AM
Accually I WAS suggesting that you have high morals than some and if everyone had them none of this would have happened. As for the "split" I think some make it out to be more than what it is people wanted a change, a choice, a voice and an option we are giving that too them.
As for payouts this has nothing to do with what is standard it has to do with what can or could be done, "if" this is a race for the good of ALL racers why do just a couple of people make more than all the racers combined? better yet why do they make more in one weekend than some do for a full years work? I have been told that what I am doing is crazy giving ALL the money back to the racers, this is something that only a few events if any in the whole world do but I say why not I'm not doing this to get rich or retire I'm doing this because its the right thing to do for the racers and the community plain and simple nothing more and nothing less.
As for the carb it's a 950 so it might be too big to work for you but if you get to the track first thing there's a good chance I can let you try it, I won't be ready anytime soon. What do you have now? vacum or double pumper and what for fuel line so I can have the right fittings for you.
princess68
03-25-2006, 09:30 AM
Hi Zeke1
Yes, it seems that 950 is not the right one- 750 is the one. We have a regular carborator- vaccum secondary- and 8an line? But it works very good because our mechanic fixed it somehow. If you ever have a spare purple 750- let me know.
Why won't you be ready any time soon? Is your car still broken? Or are you building a new one too? What changes have you made? How fast do you intend to go?
You didn't mention if you are looking for a new black hood for your camaro- if so, I know where you can find one!!!! It has been through a bit of a mishap-with me , but as soon as it gets back from the shop it will be like new!!

If you still have any trouble get a proform 750 double pump (the purple one) you won't be sorry.
I have been a little busy to say the least, not that I have alot to do too it but the swap meet has set me back a little. As for what I want it to run I think we can get 8.30 to 8.50 this year and with a little luck it will be on radials ;)

isnt that like when you spray the hell out of a smallblock year after year and keep blowing it, then put it back together and try it again!!! and to our amazement it doesnt hold together yet again!!

First I don't spray the hell out of it, I don't spray a little either I do spray more through a plate than most but thats really not the point I have had failures yes but I make adjustments, repairs, improvements and move on, thats called R&D ;) but if I put four plates at max and it blew up every time trying to do the impossible that would be insane.
Now if your done go back to your garage and work on your pile you have a long way to go to catch me :-D

Dear Zeke
Thought maybe I should use this post to answer you, since the other seemed to get hijacked.
I hope you don't feel I ride your a$$. I just ask questions. Maybe too many, but I really ask because I want to know, not because I am trying to cause trouble or stir up trouble. Who is BSJ? I am willing to let the slight error in timeslips slide. I believe you were telling what you thought was the truth.
I know that St. Thomas can spray the track so that it hooks good- because we where there on a Ford /Mustang (YIKES??!!)weekend to TT and I swear they sprayed half way down the track!!! Even our car, which has a problem, hooked like a bear.
The real issue is- two events- two weekends. EVERYONE races!!! No one will care which track you pick! Problem solved for next year.
I asked you before and you never answered- how many "leaf springs" do you have in your car?
Zeke1
07-14-2006, 02:10 PM
I know you don't ride me I'm just kiddin around :p I thought I did anwser but this is what I have found stock is 5 or 6 multi leafs way to hard so I removed two got the ride hight and strenght but created other problems switched to a split mono this year so far not only alot better but the best so far, so if you asking me what I would do get a mono or split mono.
BUTCH LaPORTE
07-16-2006, 11:10 PM
you got mono. woooooooo to much info
princess68
07-17-2006, 08:19 PM
Hi Zeke
Thanks for your input. Too bad we got rid of the mono things when we were not interested in racing the car. Now, it seems we will have to alter the new ones I bought. Wondering what problems were created by just removing a few leafs?
We went racing this past weekend and its pretty much for sure....I lost the battle. Leaf springs are being changed. Chief threw a hissy fit because of course he just kept spinning and then was not consistant.
p.s.- It seems that I am the only person on the earth- well at least from the area, that does not know you!!!
Hope you are feeling better soon...from the mono.

Ah come on... 4 link it. Chief would like that. You don't want your car to have an STD, do you? (Spinning Tire Delemia) LOL

07-17-2006, 09:03 PM
hey buttercup!!!- how are ya?
4 link it? I hate to ask- but what is that and would I like it? Remeber- We DRIVE the car too!!! I should have just bought the tshirt- since I lost the battle anyway. But the war continues........what I REALLY want is a Diamond and the pink slip for the Camaro- is that too much to ask for?
V8 BUG
07-17-2006, 09:11 PM
Don't 4-link that car it's too nice. If you want a race car buy a Dynacore shell from Year One and then cut that one up.
buttercup86
07-17-2006, 09:14 PM
The best part of racing is being able to talk to others who have had problems and use all of the info that you get from everyone and decide which road to take that bests suits your application. And as you are aware, there are alot of Camaros around so I'm sure someone has had the same issue and has it resolved. But as for me my Mustang already has a factory 4 link. And as far as the Diamond and the pinkslip,
how'bout a Cubic Zirconia and a few passes in the car with your name on them!
If your going to drive it you might as well race it!!! I know you can do it.
princess68
07-17-2006, 09:42 PM
Buttercup- you really need to come up with a new name....Sonic86?
Racing- ya I see lots of Camaros just rippin' down the strip- especially that gorgeous blue one and its was fast too!!!! We will just have to try something new
As for racing- I Really want to try it in GB , just to say I did it- but it is SO intimidating....
V8Bug- ya I'm with you- we will NEVER- hack the car. Its not best car (except in my mind) but its the BEST we got and its our Baby. Even the hood (the REAL hood) is kept safely wrapped in the basement waiting for the day when it makes its triumphant return to its rightful palce!!!!! As soon as Ken comes to his senses....

Buttercup- you really need to come up with a new name....Sonic86?
Ya,but then I lose my 114 posts and have to start over... Honestly I don't think anybody would miss me either way.LOL
I'm sorry Princess68, I like the black hood on that car.
I'll check and see if it's taken.
BTW: I was kiding about the 4 Link.
princess68
07-18-2006, 08:48 PM
Hey SonicButter86 (?)- Ya, I figured you were kidding me about the links, but what the heck!!! The real deal-breaker is always the cost-effective part. Its all reasonable, rational and even essential, until you total the bill!!!!!!!!
Hi Willys- Hows tricks?
Ya, I know- we have issues- I know. They are our own fault.
I guess I have to let up and agree to change another thing on the car. I just hate that we bought these things and now we are wrecking them. Seems that it is Money wasted to me. Yes, we are now going to try to "tune" on the other parts of the car. I agree- we don't have as much power as a lot of cars- its just that we are not harnessing what we have. See- I don't want to change my car and Ken has a goal of 11.20's- so I was hoping to get him there (just by the motor) without changing the car too much- and then maybe by then we could afford a race car that he could hack to his hearts content, and we could still have our cruiser. ..
But two car accidents (total writeoffs) within 6 weeks, and a kid starting University- the budget says comprimise, one more time.
I am not sure about the things you mentioned-pinion/shocks/clutches- but I will ask about them and see what the deal is. Thanks.
