Qualifying Round 1
DRIVER R/T ET MPH
Ken Doak - 0.199 7.79 @ 187
James Houston - n/t @
Doak comes out first after breaking the intake in qualifying last month. Doak went about 200 feet and chatters the tires and peddles the car several times down the track and is reported to have a small trail of oil in the shutdown. Houston made a move toward the wall off the hit and coasted.
Gary Naughton - 0.118 7.53 @ 195
Pete Pace - 0.182 7.88 @ 130
Good drag race. Both cars were off to solid runs but Pace shut it down early around 1000 foot and Naughton cruised on by to take the number one spot so far.
Rick Righter - 0.81 7.78 @ 177
Nice clean pass for Righter who puts him number two for the round. Second time out for the Mercury Comet and he continues to make consistent runs.

Qualifying Round 2
DRIVER R/T ET MPH
Carlos Gonzalez - 0.038 7.67 @ 186
Gary Naughton - 0.5 7.45 @ 191
Gonzalez made the switch from time only to big tire so he makes it in for the second time session and makes a nice pass to put him in the field. Naughton improves on his previous pass but he went off the end of the track after the chutes apparently did not deploy. The car and driver are O.K. and the team intends to be able to repair the car for first round. Great news!
Pete Pace - 0.167 7.26 @ 185
Rick Righter - 0.054 7.94 @ 171
Great pass for Pace who muscles his way into the number one spot. Righter was moving toward the wall and had to do some driving and did not improve on his previous run.
James Houston - 0.088 7.72 @ 174
Houston leaves hard and gets the car to go A to B this time and puts himself number four in qualifying put had a puff of smoke at the finish line but all seems ok.
